John looks emotional for a second opening the football kit, immediately gives the middle finger. British attitude in a nutshell.

I’ll take your word for it that that’s a typical British attitude because my immediate interpretation (as an American) was “that is a truly beautiful friendship” lol. My best friends and I would have (at the least) flipped each other off if we opened a really thoughtful gift after giving each other Hell like this : )

@@jocomfiresin6982 yes & no- 'liberal' can mean several quite different things. for some examples: the followers of libreralism or people with a high degree of tolerance of others... or just anyone left of regan. liberalism *was* progressive in the 17th century, but is now quite old-fashioned. ofc liberals are still often progressive compared to conservatives, but they are pretty backward by comparison to some other groups.

John Stewart fans, knowing some of Oliver's current approach came from there, might disagree. Also, as I've heard SO many Brits, including Oliver himself, say, Americans have a distorted view of English comedy. We generally only see their good comedy, not their enormous amount of bad comedy. If we did we'd have a less overly idealized view.

Russell with John Oliver on Child-size clothing and his "No Touching" rule Russell with John Oliver on Dustin Hoffman and "Five Seconds of Tickling". The list could reference his son's street learning experience but these are needlessly sexual as they are

Best interview ending ever and if I didn't love John Oliver to bits and pieces before I absolutely just want to squeeze the stuffing out of him now and that's coming from a red state in America. I mean granted a liberal in a red state... but still.

Matthew McNeany I completely agree, don't forget Irish too. Also cunt is a huge no no in the US, although Jim Jefferies is trying hard to use it whenever possible!! Mainstream US shows are getting so much better, in the past it was hard for the best comics, like George Carlin were considered too controversial but were doing brilliantly with their live shows, so the talent and audience was always there, but networks toed the line. Now with the internet we can all see how good American comedians are, that they are not represented by the likes of Jay Leno and the other bland and boring try hards. Michael Che is funny af in his stand up shows, the Daily Show has great people, Tiffany Haddish is fantastic, but on network shows, Seth Myers and Sam Bee are pushing boundaries, (I know Sam Bee is Canadian) but at last we are able to appreciate how good American comedians are, they are no longer hidden in the comedy clubs.
