His impressions are awesome. There’s not another comedian out there that does it the way he does. He’s not degrading or making fun of any race . He just tells stories in accents that are relatable and hilarious because we have all heard people talk and act like that. Todays comedy has definitely taken a few steps backwards. Most are not funny anymore. Only a few can relate to it. Most of it is making fun of politic and politicians.

Just to clarify (I’m Italian) > that gesture means “what the f**k” if it’s done by moving your hand pretty much on an imaginary vertical line and without directing your fingers anywhere in particular. If you do it and bring your fingers close to your mouth, it means “eating” in Italian as well. Like “hey man… you wanna go (gesture) eat something?” 😉

And that's fine. My objection to Russell's act is that he seems to be a one-trick pony : accents and stereotypes. Jim Gaffigan likes to make fun of his fellow Americans but I've yet to hear anything like that from Russell, a born-and-bred Canadian. It's possible that the only stuff that makes it to YT are his impressions - in which case, I stand corrected.

I am Italian and I found the part about Italy funny. The hand gesture he is doing at the end can indeed also mean "what the fuck", but it's really basically a question mark; often in response to a statement or a question, and is rarely used if you are simply asking a question. example: you wouldn't use it if you are asking "who ate my snacks?", but you would use it to answer that question with "what snacks?" or "why are you asking me?". You wouldn't need to verbally ask those questions, you can just do the hand gesture, the rest is inferred.

You can sense when a non-black or non-African comedian says something in jest about black people without malice and Russell seems to always speak with a degree or scorn and malice when telling black jokes.
