Crazy, watched this video the night before going to the distillery and picking up a bottle. The best part Jimmy was there and he signed the bottle for me. He is definitely still doing his thing at Wild Turkey. Really enjoying these leaf and barrel episodes, great video

I know this video is 2 years old, but I was in the same boat as you. A bourbon guy tried a lot but had not had Russel's single barrel before. I 100 percent agree this bourbon is great. It stands out in a very large field of contenders. Def one of my favorites now. I also agree on the Rare Breed a great find.

Russel’s Single Barrel is one of my favorites... a couple drops of water or a large ice ball that I pour the whiskey over and then remove... cheers

This is definitely one of my favorite bourbons along with ECBP, Old Forester 1920 and 1910, and Knob Creek Single Barrell. Nice review.

This is my #1 go to bourbon. Love it. It's amazing for the price. Non chill filtered. Full flavored. Lots of orange and cinnamon. Plus the picks can be amazing

Jimmy is 85 years old. He is the senior master distiller in the entire world (for all spirits). They pick barrels through samples pulled from the barrel. It’s all tasted in the sensory lab in the distillery.

Love Russell Reserve, one of my go to’s for an easy sipper. Try holding the bottle closer to the bottom for the drip twist, that’s what I find easier. I’ve got big mitts so trying to twist a bottle can be difficult! lol.

I got spice, oak, and vanilla on the nose. Palette was Spivey, sweet, oaky, with some vanilla. After you mentioned orange peal I could taste it too. The ABV does give it some burn on the finish. I felt it on my tongue for awhile.

Just had a sample at our local liquor store ... wow... It is very tasty. Just before I sampled this ... I had a sample of Woodford reserve double oaked and man did this Russell’s out shine the Woodford big time. I thought it was light on the nose but that taste is awesome. Totally agree on the chocolate comment. I pick it up pretty frequently, but its always hiding and very subtle. One bourboun that really does it for me is Woodford Double Oak

I’d probably wager that Russell’s Single Barrel is the best readily available bourbon you can buy today. I’ve been in 3 different blind tastings where it unanimously beat out Pappy’s & Btac’s. That stuff is the truth.

I've been working on a bottle of this and she's an easy drinker. I think I like this quite a bit better than Knob Creek SB and that used to be my go to. I think it's better than Old Forester 1920 as well (sacrilege!). I don't have any ECBP to compare with right now. I need to get on that in... 12 more days. I like to hear tasting notes from others to check whether or not I'm completely off the rails. Thnx for the vid brother!

If ur a fan of mixed drink and cigars Okiva Serie O and Basil Smash pair really well together with the herbal notes from the drink and the dark wood, cherry, salty earth flavors from the cigar

I just happen to have the exact bourbon in my glass as I saw your review....first time for me ....I love Rare breed one of my go to’s....this is a bit different... more delicate.....well rounded indeed...hard to believe it’s 55% abv , you re right this is the one to try if you havnt experienced barrel proof yet ...tried a little bit the other night ...2nd time I like it a lot more ....love your whiskey den by the way ....I’m very jealous , great job

i think i have had this, its great. hey last week a mystery was solved for me. at my local liquor store. i am betting you saw the movie spaceballs. well if you remember when the beamed president screw, mell brooks, and he gets beamed his head is on wrong. so snotty will beam him back to his office. well snotty as he is pulling levers, says lock one, lock 2 lock 3 then he says lock lomond. and for years i wondered what he was saying. well there is a scotch called loch lomond. anyhow keep up the content brother!

Great content my man, im from Sweden so bourbon isn't as popular here compared to scotch! So it's fun to see your view of it. We can order bourbon but it's monopoly here in Sweden on alcohol so some bourbons tend to be expensive.
