I love hearing stories of the older days of ITV when it was still regionalised and had more room for creativity and chances to fail without being thrown out the door because of it. I still think the nationalisation of ITV was one of the biggest mistakes (alongside selling BBC Television Centre) that British broadcasting has ever made. Without that room to breathe and grow, we wouldn't have the magnificence of Russell's work.

@@luvjustin ...just take a second to think about the message a series like that sends out, especially to teenage girls or boys that are gay, who already find it hard enough, who then have to put up with parents who watch it and hold out hope that the same might happen to their child or gay people at the time who were out at work and had colleagues that watched the series and said things like "theres hope for you yet" ...seems you don't realise how damaging something like that is...
