People think Russ is phony because he's always so positive and they think that nobody can be that nice. I just think he's a good dude and feels blessed so he chooses to be a positive person and wants to inspire others. So glad he is a Steeler!

That’s part. It’s also because he’s Błack and Christian. As a good łooking, charming, professional, unproblematic whìte qb, Russ has a truckload of endorsements as the “face” of American football. Not as a Błack qb. His faith further creates all kinds of warfare against him. That’s ok. Neither one of these things will prevail. Enjoy the show. 🗡🛡

Met Russ at Seahawks training camp in 2015. Dude was all business. He stayed after it ended and signed for all the fans including my boys and I. Everyone else was gone. Just Russ out there with his team rep for well over an hour signing, taking photos and visiting with fans of all ages. His regular visits to Seattle Children’s Hospital are legendary and unforgettable. He is one of the most kind and positive ppl you could meet. Nevermind his social media silliness and other things ppl get on him about. Football, family and God are what he cares about. You gotta respect that. I’m happy to see him succeed in Pittsburgh.

As a Seahawks fan, I never hated Russ, although I had fun rooting against him when Denver’s losses directly improved Seattle’s draft picks. But it’s also true that the reason he demanded out of Seattle was because he thought Seattle’s run-based offense was holding him back, and his time in Denver showed how wrong he was. If Russ had realized this in Seattle, maybe he’d still be a Seahawk. But since I’ve been a Steelers fan far longer than I’ve been a Hawks fan, I hope he learned his lesson because he’s in the perfect offense for him once again and if he works with it rather than against it, he could be special again.

You slowly see your loved one wither away, and he mentioned that was real pressure, which I agree, and that playing in the league is easy comparatively. Going through a traumatic experience like that makes sense why he stays positive and visits the kids in hospitals because he and his siblings were in similar shoes to families that he meets there.

I so admire Russ for simply continuing to be himself through all the controversy, criticism and ridicule he's endured these last few years. He refused to 'accommodate', to make himself more acceptable to the fair-weather pundits, who change their pronouncements more often than their underwear, trying to stay ahead of 'the trending wisdom'. It's that world of punditry and fickle fandom where the 'fake', 'corny' and 'superficial' are to be found. They spent two years - right up until last month - trashing Russ. Suddenly, he's their hero, Superbowl bound, comeback player of the year, etc. But they'll flip again, whenever he loses a game or two. Stay steady Russ! You are an AMAZING ROLE MODEL, for believing in yourself and not being enamored of the false idol of Hipness

This was a great interview and nice to actually hear from Russ. Mike Tomlin was raised by a stepfather. I can imagine he and Russ had some amazing talks about fatherhood and Russ being a stepfather. He has gotten some undeserved backlash for loving a child that isn't biologically his. I believe he's in the right place with the right coach and it's only up from here.

To go into the HoF as a Steeler, he will need to play at least 40% of his career there, which would mean about 8 years out of 20 seasons total per bring Pittsburgh multiple SB wins and REQUEST Togo in as a Steeler, which would frankly serve Seattle right. I’ll never forget those boos he received in Seattle.

I can't stand these ppl that hate on this guy. We don't have enough "Good Guys" out here & to hate him says so much about yourself. I root for all the black QBs because I remember when it was not even 5 in the NFL. I never look at them as "corny" or whatever, when Cam newton was dancing that entire season I had to see him being hated on for being a winner. He said something about the Steelers haven't beaten anyone, but we talking NFL teams and it came off has hate from him & he hasn't said nothing since they beat Washington recently. I even made the trip to Denver just so I can finally see Russ play live, I hope to get to Pittsburgh to see him where he is being appreciated would be really great. Keep doing your thing, Russ! 💯🙏

I remember seeing this guy being interviewed before his draft and how incredibly focused he looked. He was quick with answers, confident, maintained great eye contact and showed determination but humility. Everyone was questioning him because of his height and he would hear none of it. I remember thinking he was one of those guys who’ll never stop fighting for his goals, come what may. I wasn’t surprised when he tore up the league with Seattle, but as great as he is as a player, the coolest thing about Russ is his consistent approach to EVERYTHING. He’s always been this guy. The definition of unwavering class and commitment.

You put us on the map, you gave us fun and excitement AND a Super Bowl will we always dreamed of. I miss you, I’m sorry how you were treated, it was wrong and you’re in a better place now. I was depressed when you left but I’m okay now that I’ve become a Pittsburgh Steelers fan!! I wish the absolute best for you and your wonderful family. I wish you great success and I pray you take the Steelers to a Super Bowl LVIII WIN!!! God bless you Russell, I really miss you but what’s more important is you being happy and successful. ❤

To your point, he could’ve taken the low risk way out and sat on his couch, collected his salary for the year from the Broncos, and waited for an injury to happen. He’d be playing for the Browns right now, and they always liked him! Russ didn’t have to join a team and play this year. He didn’t have to do OTAs or training camp. He could’ve just collected his money. The fact that he didn’t shows what kind of work ethic he has and why Ciara loves the guy’s dirty draws. He’s nothing like the other guys she has been with.
