Before that their offensive scheme every single 1st down was run the ball twice and then throw a 3-6 yd pass. Classic RW story though. He rarely has decent protection, forcing him to play with defenders in his face. When he adapts to this permanent lack of protection, he gets critized for holding on to the ball for too long, or scrambling too much. The league and media just hates this guy. Compare it to Mahomes - he can't do anything with bad O-line, yet everybody still loves the golden boy. Russ have had pretty bad O-line play for most of his career, but rarely gets any credit for still winning that much.

Russ is one of the best pocket passers in the league. The problem is, pocket passers are slowly dying out and getting replaced with the super athletic qb's like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. The ONLY way you can be a successful pocket passer is if your O-Line is giving you proper protection and you release rhe ball faster than most. Problem with Russ is he holds the ball WAYY too long for the amount of protection his O-line gives him.

As someone who goes to games and spends thousands on supporting this franchise, this is a terrible move. Russel Wilson has been playing good. We just don’t have a consistent offensive line to protect him. The five game win streak the offense line kept him from getting sacked multiple times. These last two games he got sacked multiple times from lazy offensive protection. Russ gave pretty good passes with the little protection he had and wide receivers keep dropping balls over and over. It’s a team game. But the offensive players get way too comfortable and have no discipline for their mistakes. I can make a list all this crap for offense and defense. The defense has multiple missed tackles. How in the heck can you miss tackles over and over. All they do is train and train for this and get paid well for it. As a broncos fan I’m fed up with this franchise literally thinking about winning super bowls with veterans. Invest in future, draft a QB and build around him. The manning era is over and we most likely won’t see that again. We have been in a playoff drought for years. I’m a true broncos fan but this is getting ridiculous because not only is the franchise making pour franchise decisions they are making pour decisions on bringing in an elite QB with a mediocre offense set up and a very poor defensive set up! Just shows they are putting the blame on his shoulders. But Russell is strong and has love and support around him. He will be fine. You bring your team back from multiple touchdown deficit in the 4th qtr and your defense loses the game…. That’s not his fault. Payton is trash for trashing this QB. They don’t deserve his QB services. I hope he leaves for a strong offensive line and destroys defenses next year.
