"President Putin is using energy as a weapon. Are we going to let him win, are we going to let him do that, because if he does, he'll be back for more."
Times Radio's chief political commentator Lucy Fisher interviews UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace about Kyiv's prospects in 2023, the US sending Patriot missiles to Ukraine, and the West's "hollowed out" ammunition stocks.

Think it’s way past time Ukraine got everything needed to win this war for freedom, Why has Russia been allowed to push the free world around ? Remember 141 nations are against this war . As soon as that vote was taken that was the time to act ,however this did not happen the free world sat on its thumbs and Germany sent some helmets. Well it’s past time to wake up and smell the coffee billions of pounds of damage and thousands of lives lost. TIME TO CRUSH THE RUSSIAN GANGSTERS FULLY. This is about all free nations remaining free from worry about someone invading them when they feel like it. China is looking on.

During the race to replace Boris Johnson after he resigned, a lot of the public and MP’s said they’d support Ben Wallace for PM, but Mr Wallace stated that as honoured as he was to get so much support, he was happy doing the job he is doing. So sadly, the man doesn’t want to be the PM. But if he is happy and good at what he is doing then let’s let him continue that 😊

UK signed the Budapest Memorandum. It guaranteed Ukraine’s political independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is doing what it is obliged to do but it might be worth reminding the public if they complain about money going to Ukraine. Having said that UK has been impressive in its support - always the first to recognise evil and stand up against it. Glad to be on the same side 🇬🇧🇺🇦🇦🇺
@simon7790

Why not read the Budapest Memorandum. Takes 30 seconds to find on google, In the UN archives. If you read it you would know that what you wrote is incorrect. What it says is that Russia, the UK and the US agree to: “respect the Independence and Sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine” “refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine” “refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind” Only 1 signatory has violated this agreement. It's not the UK.

That's what the politicians/media does, with all their propaganda. Like "It's the Russians' fault," etc. And the same thing happens in the east, like "It's the fault of the Americans, of the West," and so on. They make people hate each other! We need to wake up! They did the same with the plan-demic, and they will do the same with any other scheduled crisis, such as the devaluation of money (that paper printed at the behest of some 'tricksters') or the food crisis (which while we are made to hate neighbors, food is destroyed around the world).

The Truth is that Ukraine has a vast amount of natural gas (and tbh the UK has vast amounts of natural gas but the eco maniacs would rather we buy gas from Russia than pump it ourselves because in their mind if they can't see the pollution it doesn't exist) that if the security of Ukraine can be guaranteed, and entry of Ukraine into the EU can be guaranteed then wholesale gas prices would plummet, wholesale food prices would plummet and we would have cheap food and energy again, without relying on Russia!

As far as cruelty is concerned the first day of the Iraq war all of the drinking water plants were destroyed and hundreds of thousands of children died. The USA and Britain went way beyond their brief and destroyed Libya and created an unprecedented crisis. Can you imagine England’s reaction If the Chinese started arming Scottish separatists and then started building military bases around Scottish oil terminals How about we let them have the donbas and it’s enormous resources, it’s better than this war. Angela merkel just admitted publicly that the eu had no intention of following the Minsk agreements at least Britain got out of that lying bunch. Let’s face it if the Russians get the donbas and crimea they are going to return and end the genocide by the saudis/Israelis/Americans in Syria where the big money is.

@kaizer7568 The UK premier was elected. Unfortunately people don't understand that it's not the same as being a President. His/ her constituents vote for an MP. It's up to the party with the most support in Parliament, or a coalition of parties, to determine who is leader and Premier. The US system is a shambles when a minority of votes can allow someone to be President when they supposedly wanted to avoid having a King! The US President has much more power than either King Charles 111 or Rishi Sunak! Both are limited by Parliament in particular the Commons, and the independent legal system. Based on over one thousand five hundred years the mixture of Common Law, Precedent, and Statute forms a complex written constitution of millions of documents.

But the UK left the EU not europe.Europeans are so brainwashed that they are the same thing, when they are not.The EU Political section, is a expensive duplication of national governments and it is not required, so why is it given so much importance, it does not merit. Absolutely! What's more, it's in our all interest to support Ukraine for various reasons, e. g. to avoid Russian aggression in other countries like Moldova, and a global food crisis and hundreds of thousands, if not millions of deaths due to starvation. We already saw last summer what can happen when Russia steals tonns of Ukrainian grain and blocks Ukrainian grain exports. If Russia occupied all of South Ukraine and controlled all Ukrainian sea ports, it would keep blackmailing us to get whatever they want and there would be no end of it. We need to stick together as this war at our doorstep concerns all of us directly. I just wish our 🇩🇪 government did more and stuck to supplying Ukraine with heavy weaponry, something our parliament agreed on in April but has failed to accomplish so far 😓 No doubt Ukraine will be victorious and free its territories but the cost of human lives would be so much lower if only we did more to support them.

@@robharris8844U agree 100%! Our government is a coalition of three parties with social Democrats in the majority. And it's the social Democrats who are ridiculously hesitant and problematic when it comes to delivering the weapons as agreed. The other two (smaller) parties in the coalitions are constantly pushing for deliveries and so is the biggest opposition party. So the social Democrats are mostly to blame for this mess and in fact they're losing public support but what's appalling is that there are people in Ukraine losing their lives because the biggest party in our government coalition isn't sticking to what they, the other coalition parties and the parliament agreed on. It's so petty considering what's at stake, we really can't wrap our heads around it either.

As Chris Freer mentioned below, Ben Wallace would make an excellent Prime Minister. His down to earth practical stance combined with amazing knowledge would be uplifting for the country. So many MP's from all parties are corrupt, totally untrustworthy and not fit to govern. The countries citizens would have a much better life if every other MP did his duty for the country and not for the purpose of filling his back pocket!

I have been learning Russian from a tutor in Zaporizhzhia via Zoom for almost two years. She'd agree that corruption is a problem in her country. Despite that many weapons do get to the front and Moscow's forces were defeated at Kiev, in Kharkiv, and recently in Kherson.

The west placed sanctions on Russian pupeline gas which is why it is running out in Europe, not because of Russia. Russia is still selling gas to Europe at a higher price through intermediaries via ship after it is retained in foreign vessels so they still get the revenue for it. @@worer850 Germany Post 1945 was largely pacifist , concerned only with self defense, even with Nato. It started hesitantly changing post 1991. Its policy towards Russia was peace and progress by economic cooperation and interdependency. That all got blown up in February 2022. It has changed though there is still much internal resistance by the supporters of the failed policies.
