My great grandfather was a Volga German who's family came to the Volga region north of Saratov from Germany in the late 1700 or early 1800's by the invitation of the Russian Queen, Catherine the Great. The village in the Volga region near Saratov was called Yagodnaya Polyana (Berry Land) in Saratov Oblast, Russia, 412185 , maybe 40 kilometers or so north of Saratov on road R158 and to the east a little way. There is a town there now but their old houses are most likely gone. I heard there were ruins or traces where the old village was. I have located it on the map. Around 1900 Marxism was on the rise in Russia and the Volga Germans became a target of persecution. Many of the Volga German families escaped to America. Those who stayed sadly were most likely sent to Siberia after WWI. My grandfathers family made it all the way to South East Washington State in the USA with many other Volga German families from Russia. Some settled in South Western Idaho and that is how the town of Moscow, Idaho came to be. My great grandfather's family homesteaded a large tract of the fertile Palouse country to farm wheat. It would be wonderful and fascinating if you could show us a trip to find Yagondaya Polyana, or Berry Land as I understand it to be called. Anyway, I love your travel tours. you make them very fascinating and to listen to and watch as we get to see things from a perspective not otherwise seen. We hear a lot about the USA and Russia being super powers today.I have viewed a number of videos on rural Russia and tried to find out a village that looked like surpassing that of a third country. If prosperity is confined to urban areas only ,it is lop-sided development. Looking forward to seeing rurally prosperous Russia.Thanks for sharing the video.More of rural villages from anywhere. I love what is rural.

Unfortunately the life in the most Russian villages is hard, no work, bad roads, no doctors… and a big distance to the city, but those closer to cities some called elite villages are very rich, but usually they are hidden behind huge fences, so hard to get in… Look for Barviha or Rublevka for example you will be amazed, but it’s near Moscow which is a different country 😟

I'm interested in why it's not being fixed i mean like this russian houses and big block buildings are also in my country but in my country they are fixing them from inside with new elevators and from outside with paiting and it looks more alive more colorful... Most video i saw about russian live inside of russia looks like 90's in my country why is it that my country that was once in a soviet union is now more modern and colorful and then you look at russia outside of moscow and it looks like a trip 30 years back :D I mean this in no bad faith or something i mean it i'm interested to know why it still looks this old even after 30-40 years?

Many people in Russia outside Moscow have a very low salary and can't afford to do anything about they old houses, or older people still live there but have nobody to help... and some people don't bother to do anything because they houses will be smashed at some point and blocks of flats build instead.

We used to have many plants, there are still working like oil refinery, refrigerators factory etc. Also agriculture and produce of alcohol, flower, pasta, bread, sweets, sausages etc.

People are kinda spoiled now, those gravel roads are actually better in winter as they aren't so slick as asphalt or concrete. Perfectly navigable and lower maintenance. I guarantee the neighborhood children don't mind. The houses are the responsibility of the owners; not an almighty state as that no longer exists.
