Russia retaliates after Ukraine sinks top warship

The sinking of one of Russia's most important warships, the Moskva, was the result of two Ukrainian antiship missile strikes, a senior Defense official confirmed. Meanwhile, more than 900 civilian bodies were found in the Kyiv region, according to police. Chris Livesay reports.

Russia has, in many respects, been rather careful in not firing indiscriminately into Kiev. Yes, some missles and rockets have landed in residential areas but I'm pretty sure no protracted mass firings of artillery or rocket launchers.

That ship is decades old and was about to be replaced anyway. It played no role in the strikes, because all the offensive weapons are fired from frigates and corvetts (which are also much more modern). This changed absolute nothing. There are accidents in the military all the time. Two years ago a much bigger and younger US navy ship burned out right inside its home harbour for example. Or just these days another big US navy ship had an accident. This happens all the time, normally it's not used by stupid people for dumb propaganda, that's the only difference. If Ukraine really did that, it was a dumb move. Again: the Moskwa did not even attack, so wastin the only shots you got on a ship that is not even a threat for you is... well, typical Ukraine. They kind of love this. The only thing the coup regime and their Nazis love more is to slaughter civilians it seems.

​@@miriamweller812 That is wrong though, this ship has tons of Ashm, Moskva was able to provide long-range and mobile air defence protection for the entire Black Sea Fleet and was a floating command and control centre. Its loss degrades the fleet's air defences, particularly on longer range mission. And this ship has been refitted with modern equipments back in 2015, it just sailed again in 2021, and expected to be in service until 2040, mind you russia has only 3 type of this ship. To put in perspective, the US will still in better conditions even its 1 supercarrier sunk, since it has 11 of those.

It's because they didn't see it coming...the Russians were all eating Borscht, and potatoes rolls, when it hit.... Since the first missile hit the munitions storage, the explosion of the second missile was not really noted... Bits of dead Russians soldiers were strewn everywhere. i would like to see the armies of moldova and georgia to begin offensive operations against russian troops occupying their territories, belarus should rise up against the putin puppet controlling them. kazakhstan should attack westward and take russias black sea coast south of crimea and north of georgia. they could then become a maritime nation. USA should green light a small incursion into siberia by the CCP/china all the way to the arctic coastline in exchange for giving up sys and taiwan claims. time for japan to occupy the kuril islands. ukraine should offer to return crimea to turkey of they enter the war against russia and sink the black sea fleet and send troops to liberate southeastern ukraine.
