@@lurgee1706 I’m not sure when/if you’ve ever spent any time in a modern infantry unit but I can tell you from experience the ease at which I can acquire a target at 400 meters and put accurate fire on it has increased exponentially due primarily to increases in battle proven optics. When I first went into the Army in 2004 we qualified with M16A2’s and were issued M4A1’s once I arrived at the 82nd 1st/504th. Granted being an E3 with that chunky enlistment bonus I purchased a beautiful EO-Tech setup with a magnifier and some other mail order tacticool kit but it couldn’t compensate for my lack of experience or the short comings of what is essentially a short to mid range optic that with the exception of the magnifier didn’t offer any sort of magnification based on tactical and mission needs. Fast forward to 2011 and again in 2020 and working for a specific PMC company as a designated defensive marksman we used very high end digital optics that offered up to 6x magnification and as little as 1x. The rifle I used fired the same 5.56mm round that my M4 fired albeit with a far superior build quality, but my personal ability to acquire and engage targets past 400 meters was increased ten fold and this is not due to me doing my best Chris Kyle impression. Variables aside the largest contributing factor was the quality and power of optics utilized. To be clear it wasn’t very often that we would engage targets out at that distance but the other advantage of having a versatile optic was the fact that I could observe possible threats and get an accurate depiction of the current strategic situation as it unfolds as opposed to having to rely on an ISAF or coalition Intel report that was 6 hours old at that point and wasn’t of much use in that regard.

Most of the AKs that were distributed around the world are AKMs aside from the Chinese clones and variants from the former Warsaw Pact countries. This video is misleading, just like majority of the American media about the AK (I’m an American vet). Russian military had switched to the AK-74 & its advanced 5.45x39 caliber in 1974...Meaning they have learned about the M-16 long ago, and perfected the AK accordingly. That being said, all this bs about Russians having inferior rifles is the definition of propaganda. AK-74 is a superior gun to anything ever created in the AR/M16/M4 series. AK-74 accuracy is comparable to the ARs, while having less recoil and maintaining the same level of reliability as previous AK’s. It also has the short u version and a plethora of other mods for spec ops and beats AR’s by a long shot. That being said, it could be said that Russians had better service rifles since 1970s and with the arrival of AK-12 their advantage in assault rifles is even greater. Of course, military power isn’t determined by only service rifles used, so it is undeniable that US military is the worlds greatest. Nevertheless, as an Army vet I would say it is important to have correct information about your enemy. During my 6 years in the military, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the M4/M16 is more accurate than AK-47 argument, because a big share of our service men still are convinced that Russian use the 47/AKM that were phased out almost half a century ago. I can’t tell you how annoying it can get to have to clean your gun after every single mission and still have to wonder if it’ll jam, because in Iraq - dust/sand are constantly present in the air...and that is just the tip of the iceberg
@Tool6834 жыл бұрын
Take the brake off the 74 then tell me it has less recoil than an AR. I would also still say AR's are slightly more accurate than AK's in terms of absolute potential. AK's are also heavier than AR's of the same length and barrel profile. In my view, an AR is a better weapon for special forces units, and an AK, since it's retard-proof, is better suited for standard grunts.

In discovered documents from the original trials where Kalashnikov prototype AK was first tested against other designers attempts. Kalashnikov was the most junior designer involved and so didn't really have an ego (Kalashnikov was known for his humility for rest of his life). So when the testing committee and some of his assistance gave recommendations on how to improve his prototype. Kalashnikov was the only designer of the three in the trial, the others being Tokarev and Degtyaryov to actually do that. They rest just made minor changes but ignored the committees suggestions and requests. So when second trial came around, the Army committee saw only Kalashnikov was trying to meet their requirements. So they picked his AK as the new submachine gun for the Red Army. It's only later after more testing did the Soviets realize they had an 'assault' rifle on their hands.

Russia's moved to a professional army with reserves but kept the fully automatic requirement. You can see this in the recoil impulse of the 5.45, much smaller than the 5.56.

It is worth mentioning, that the main idea behind the legendary reliability of the AK-47 is the concept of relaxing elements of the weapon after the shot is fired. You can see all those wibbly-wobbly movements of its parts during the cartridge extraction phase, which allow parts to move relatively easily, just to tide themselves together again right before the next shot. This way internal parts don't get too affected by the dirt during the motion cycle, for example.

He’s kind of ignoring the whole fact that the first gun the one that Mikhail Kalashnikov designed was actually a sub machine gun. Basically he was in the running for the PPS 43 trials or what would become the PPS 43. After Siminoff design won he ended up deciding to try for an assault rifle in the 76 2 x 39 cartridge.You need to keep in mind the AK 47 was actually the third gun to be chambered for the 76 2 x 39 cartridge after the RPD and SKS.

Did whoever write the script found out there is more to the ak family than the fabled "47" like 5 minutes before making the video? 5.45 has been introduced over 40 years ago. 40! There have been an insane amount of variations in this "family tree", yet this video tries to convince the audience russians just went straight from an AK-47 (which was quickly replaced with AKM anyways) straight to the AK-12.
@MrNigzy234 жыл бұрын
Compare the 74 to the 47m, you'll find that the 74 was and is just a re-chambered 47m. It's practically the same weapon system with only minor changes made to the internal systems. Cappy compares the bullets, which is more accurate when comparing the AK's because, like I said, the changes are mainly because of the re-chamber. The 74m had some changes but that wasn't adopted till '91 and this is the 74 we see today with the polymer furniture. (It also took the AKM over ten years before being replaced by the AKM.) But yeah, there was no radical change in weapon system design from the 47 to 74 so the omission of the 74 is okay as everything shown (like the animated parts.) of the 47 would apply to the 74 just with the 74 would come cosmetic changes as the 47 and 74 share around half the same components. AEK's aren't part of the Kalashnikov family tree so they don't count either. Even the later AK's like the AK-103 is just an AKM in a polymer dress. The whole AK series is practically the same other than the round it actually fires. No other AK model besides the 47 (and derivatives.) and the 74 (also with derivatives.) was formally adopted by the Soviets or by the Russian Federation up until the AK-12 was given the go ahead.
@ukromarine4264 жыл бұрын
CHECK YOUR FACTS!!! There are actually two versions of AK-12, the old one was developed in 2011, tested in 2012 and ultimately did not go anywhere. What is called an AK-12 now is a totally different gun. It is basically an AK-74M but with picattiny rails on it. The old AK-12 had a bolt hold open, ambidexterous controls, new bolt design and overall was much more sophisticated than the current version. Thanks to my government we just have a meaner looking AK-74 instead of an actually modern combat rifle. Although there were some talks about further implementation of AEK-971(which was the gun that won the trials in 2012. And it's a predecessor of AN-94 "Abakan") into FSB and elite army units. You should make a video about that.
