The first of only four IL 96-400s was built 18 (!) years ago. The 4-turbine concept is outdated, maintenance-intensive and costly. Aeroflot retired its last Il-96-400 in 2014 due to its inefficiency. The situation is even worse with the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SJ 100): Only 1 was sold in the last 5 years, over 60 were ‘in stock’ in 2020 because returned or not accepted. The aircraft has significantly higher maintenance costs & downtimes than promised & than competitor aircraft. Probably not a single civilian product is of world market standard. Accordingly, Russia's global market share (outside Russia/Belarus) is less than 0.1% in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, building of cars, lorries, aircraft, locomotives and ships, medicine, medical technology devices, optoelectronics, IT, hardware, consumer electronics (smartphones, refrigerators, televisions, etc.), internet business, wind and solar power products, etc. - and probably all other sectors.

Russia needs the Chinese market. China needs Russian technology. If they cooperate, both will win in Asia, South America, and Africa!. This is one of the better scenarios to compete with Boeing and Airbus. Ironically, China and Russia are the two main titanium producers. They could control titanium price and availability. The US and Europe should also know their limit! The US totally disabled Russia in the aviation industry, well Russia built its own industry to compete with them. Never count the Chinese out. Only a few years ago, China was a laughing stock about EV cars, now ask Elon Musk! 6 months ago, Raimondo played her best semiconductor card on the Chinese turf. They just politely accepted her play, but she didn't realize that she was already checkmated. The US looked down and banned China from participating in the International Space Station. Well, China built its own space station! Remember that China is still the king of manufacturing. Especially now, the US's playbook motivates Russia and China to challenge them in any technological field. The world will be very different in the next 50 years.

Until 2022, recognizing Western patents, we could not produce ourselves and transfer these technologies to third parties. The first prototype is in Russia. Now you are ahead of the US thanks to the Russians. We are already ready for 1 nanometer using X-rays and less than 1 nanometer using synchrotron radiation, which will be released by 2030. The kernel code will be rewritten and the Russian software market will mature by this time. Russia is already in the age of quantum technologies. We discovered quantum particle chaos control in 2021. We are working on Leonov’s works, rewriting physics. The energy of the universe will soon become available. And China is the world's factory for the production of industrial goods. Russia will never engage in this production. Only if we saturate our own Russian market, so as to be independent of anyone.

@@johnstuartsmithNOP! Have you heard of the ETOPS certificate? This certificate only exists because of Western demand to use 2 engines. In fact, 4-engine planes don't need it! And because of this certificate, 2-engine planes can't fly straight! Do some research;

Nice plane , but 4 engines are not as economical as two engines, i hope they put two engines on this plane
@pedromartoni230 Жыл бұрын
For the time being is good enough for Russia. They depevelope and keep the national narket for themselves, upgrade their competeces in civil air construction, new jobs are being created, money stay in Russia ; cheap oil and gas are plenty available, so the four engine is still ecomical viable until the new development , the PD35 2 engine, is produced.
@warmike Жыл бұрын
4 engines will probably be needed for transatlantic flights as I doubt the West will give Russian planes an ETOPS certification.

It is temporary, they will be replaced with two PD-35 engines. From another side, 4 engines have better reliability. Authorities/army in Russia use only this plane. And will in future even when arrive 2 engines version.

Next time don't attack other countries. Also, good luck with this plane! The rest of the world has friendly relations with other world powers, and we don't make harassing people and denying humans basic human rights our pride and glory. Hence, why we are able to source quality parts from other countries. Separating production has been the most efficient and by far superior way of conducting business. Surprised you haven't learned that given the dramatic downfall of communism, and its failure. This whole plane seems like a hazard for any air space, and it probably eats up way too much fuel. Not to mention it's likely inferior built quality. Stick to just not giving your own people basic human rights, and other clownery propaganda.

We see American-Canadian support for Nazism, a very similar situation to the 30s of the 20th century. Henry Ford and many other American oligarchs adored and supported the Nazis. Russia's borders were fixed by the Treaty on the Boundaries of Europe in 1975 in Helsinki. Don't worry about neighboring countries. Russia has the legal right to defend itself 6.5 times more than Israel.
