In this video I look at the Population of Russia and uncover the DEMOGRAPHIC Disaster that is getting WORSE, is now impacting on the OIL & GAS INDUSTRY and is causing major problems for the Russian Economy. The EXODUS of people following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, falling birth rate, low retirement age, unemployment and an ageing population are all wreaking havoc on Russia's workforce and the Economy. The situation was already critical before Russia's decision to invade Ukraine but has now been made significantly worse.

Yes, the retirement age is lower in Russia. But the government there pays their pensioners absolute peanuts. The standard pension is 100 dollars a month, minus 50 dollars for rent and heating leaving the average Russian on an unmanageable 50 dollars a month to live on. If your a pensioner living outside Moscow and St. Petersburg you'll get less. Then stop and think how much the county earns in oil and gas and how much the oligarchs have. It's an absolute discrace. Treat your pensioners fairly? It's an absolute joke !!!

That's Russia for ya. Everything exists to serve their leaders, oligarchs and the elite in Moscow. Once you've retired, you're no longer needed. Imagine how many rich countries would exist, with plenty of money to improve the life of their people, if Russia was split into several smaller nations. Suddenly Moscow would be in huge trouble if they could no longer leech from the rest of the country.

Peter Zeihan points out the inevitable collapse of the Russian energy sector in several of his presentations. Since the war in Ukraine started, members of the "supermajors" have left Russia entirely. They no longer have enough people with enough experience to maintain the industry and everything is running on inertia. Once the failures start, they will cascade and escalate until the majority of it goes offline for the foreseeable future. Russia is also sending the most able bodied members of their labor force into the meatgrinder in Eastern Ukraine to be turned into organic fertilizer. So much sooner rather than later, it's all going away

I don't think Pete has everything figured out. Russians can learn. How will Russia obtain "experienced" oil people? As the Russians fix issues in their oil industry, they gain experience. They gain knowledge as time goes on. Necessity is the Mother of Invention. However, if the refineries are blown up, the game changes.

KZbin uses excuses like political correctness and sensitive topics as an excuse to keep the money they would normally share with creators. Those ads may be selling at a discount, or family friendly advertising may pay a premium. We don't really know all of what's going on behind the curtain, and that's part of the problem for creators. They didn't know exactly what content is problematic, and they can't tell if there is an actual monetary reason for being demonetized. On top of that, certain content triggers state-sponsored video reporting, which costs KZbin more to administratively support. If a real person has to intervene, the cost of that person may have removed the entire profitability of the video to KZbin. Again, we just don't know what's really going on inside KZbin. I understand not wanting to reveal the real costs, but relative costs might be possible.
@socket_error1000
@socket_error1000 25 күн бұрын
@@johnhaller5851 Now if that is the case and they are being honest about it in practice then they would be more open about their process with the creators. But instead they have not been and do all they can to keep it from the creators. The only reason for this is to guard their secret and is a clear sign that there is deceit in their practice but also ignorance in them as well. Right now KZbin is telling its creators to eat cake while handing them moldy bread. Eventually a revolution is bound to happen. A few years back German creator JoergSprave tried to get a union started for creators with the help of one of the largest labor organizations in Europe with a goal of forcing KZbin to give them a seat at the table. Unfortunately not enough creators were willing to take part in the effort for the reason you offered, fear of losing the crumbs they are eating. So his effort eventually went away. This is the tyranny of such a powerful single interest business has over its labor. Without another economic source for their creativity, the people who work to feed the KZbin platform, the platform itself has a tyrannical position of monopolizing their skills. Yet the true weakness is in KZbin as without the creators, there is nothing to sell advertising for. I am not a creator, I am just a person that knows a tyrannical empire hiding in the shadow when I see it.

Joe, good report. I guess that AI can't argue with bland statistics but there is one chart you used twice that drew my attention: 'Russia's Blue Collar Workers See Double Digit Salary Increase' points to male dominated careers, that with the exception of engineers, are jobs performed by men and not requiring advanced education. As you have said in previous videos, the collapse of university and technical education in the final years of the Soviet Union has 'dumb-down' the career options for many Russians. Between this shortfall of trained workers and the aging male workforce, the competitiveness of Russian workers cannot keep pace with western countries. Also, this wage increase chart points to three occupations that impact Russia's war time economy. Truck drivers, car body shop specialist, and car mechanics indicate a heavy impact on transportation services and logistics. Vehicle sanctions and Russian highways are a big obstacle in safe transportation. Outside of a few major cities, these services are stretched to the max. In looking at your Russian age pyramid, a large portion of the population fills the retirement ranks with many consumers and few workers. Add to this, health care and pensions take much of the revenue away from state priorities. I looks like a no-win scenario.

As the gas and oil exports shrink, the ruble will loose value. At the same time putting a lot of money in circulation will just create more inflation as there will start to exist shortage of everything except rubles. The inflation we are seeing now is nothing compared to what's coming for russia.

You have the Ukraine war aggressively pulling Russia's young working/family creating aged men out of the economy but you also have Ukraine's continued successful attacks against Russia's oil/gas industry. So if you have a skill set that revolves around the oil and gas industry, you're going to work terrified that you're going to die from drones and their explosions. If you're already in danger from the war, maybe it makes more sense to just sign up for the war and take the sign on bonus. Ukraine attacks Russia's oil/gas industry directly and indirectly with this approach, blowing it up directly and creating so much fear among the workers that they do something else damaging the oil/gas industry indirectly.

Hi Joe, I have made his comment before to reiterate oil & gas is dependent upon North American & European support. Worked in Russia 1975 - 2010. If you have a job on an oil & gas site it’s more like you are related rather than technical ability. For offshore requires onboard support as I did for a period. No support, no spares, no oil industry. The logistics of restarting are equally daunting. Russian are trying to recruit from the Middle East & Asia.

Russia can start employing: 1) foreign migrants 2) children Inevitably, the both possibilities will have to happen in one way or another. What is more confusing is the question of money or finance in general... I would like to see a realistic breakdown when they are going to hit some financial roadblocks. Russian trolls claim Russia will never run out of financial resources which is obviously false. But back in 2022 I expected they can fight this imperialistic, land-grabbing war for like maybe 2 years. And clearly, they can wage it for longer. But how much longer?

Small correction: The Russian military is offering huge sums of money, but they are not following through on delivery of payment. You can look online and find so many families back in Russia who are being denied death benefits and other cash incentives by the Russian military. Signing up with the military is like making a deal, you go on to pay the ultimate sacrifice, and the military just quietly disposes of you on their databases as an active soldier.

Russia is probably the only country with a legit "workforce shortage". countries like the United States never had a shortage, and any shortage here in the US was self imposed by companies refusing to hire anyone applying for employment (yes, throwing away applications is a common practice in the US. not to mention the legal discrimination against applicants done behind doors, since it's only illegal if they tell the applicant they can't hire them because of race, veteran status, etc. but it's completely legal to not hire them for these reasons without telling them).

Great program as usual. While the high wage jobs you listed seem to be primarily in the transportation sector, I think they may actually be military jobs. At the start of the war Russia suffered terribly in logistics. At one point the entire front seized up from supply issues. It was then that Russia gave up trying to take Kyiv and retreated from most of the northern oblasts. Also, the need to refurbish decades old tanks from the boneyard no doubt takes lots of man hours from people familiar with vehicles. The electrical systems on such vehicles no doubt need a good going over as well. One really interesting video I have seen shows that the labor situation is dire indeed. A video of a meeting of the Federation Council was leaked. This is roughly equivalent to the U.S. Senate. In it a councilor was complaining to the Minister of Internal Affairs about the high rate of street crime. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is basically the ordinary police force. The Minister explained that the reason he could not successfully do his job was that he was suffering large vacancy rates in his ministry. The full complement is just under 1 million employees. He said that he had 152,000 unfilled positions. If the Russian police are running at roughly 15% under strength then you know things are bad, What is a police state without the police?
