The difference with western forces is that Russian combat doctrine is to get up close and personal. Stemming from the brutal combat in WW2 where the Whermact forces where very reluctant to face the Russian forces in hand to hand combat. Since they employed the special entrenching tool that all Russian soldiers now love which where sharpened at both sides and used as a weapon. So all in all the divide of western and Russian forces is quite stark Russian soldiers are prepared for brutal combat and hand to hand confrontations to take the fight to the enemy and ultimately to win.
