Russian Almond Marbled 3D French for Fussy Fay

Hey KZbin!
We have Fay in today and we will be doing a Russian almond shadow french!! how exciting :) I'll start by building a base layer using Crystal Clear Acrylic Powder, then I'll use Natural Beige in the cuticle area and after drying file in my smile line. Next I'll take the Amethyst falls gel polish and paint the edges of my brick wall and coming on to my clear layer and pop that in to the lamp, now we will take the Loud and Clear Acrygel and build up some product over the Gel. Then I'll go and do another section the same way using ChatterBox Gel polish and next up we will take this colour that i don't know what its called (Lotus Touch) and paint the brick wall of my Acrygel and cure it. I'll finish up the nail with Loud and Clear Acrygel and file the nail in to shape, add some BLING for a little extra pazaz and thats it!

It's not just you. I'm not a fan of the weird shapes, either. I'm so old school I don't even like stilettos! When I was in cosmetology school there were three, count 'em, THREE, shapes: Oval, square, and squoval. THAT'S IT! They didn't teach us any other shapes. I had to go to really experienced nail techs to get mine done because my natural nails have such extreme curves-- both the C-curve AND the arch from cuticle to tip-- that new nail techs didn't have a clue about how to even fit forms on me!

So Kirsty, I’ve noticed you tend to always use acrylic on the natural nail. It’s quite rare to see you use acrygel on the natural nail though I know you have in the past but is there any reason for it? Do you find you get better adhesion with acrylic? I find I don’t get great adhesion with acrygel despite doing full nail prep and prime.

Im a long time subscriber by I have only seen some of you videos. To be honest, its mostly feat, Fay and I would scroll to the middle and start watching there. I'm curious how long does it take for fa full set when you film? The some videos of Fay are 15 to 30 minutes and that's per nail. Excluding the intro, maybe some bloopers or cuts, it seems like it will take a whole day just to do a full set.

Yes, it does take a full day to film Fay's sets. They are so intricate, and every nail is different, that it just takes the whole day to film it. Filming takes extra time because they have to move back into frame, or Adam has to move the camera, so often. Then there is the bit where Kirsty has to explain what she's doing, and why, every time she does anything even slightly out of the ordinary. But Kirsty and Adam have both said that Fay's sets always take the full day-- and that's if she spends the night prior to filming removing the old set. It takes a day and a half if they have to remove the previous set of nails on the day of filming.

You can slow the video down as much, or speed it up as fast, as you want to, pretty much. Just click the little "cog" or "flower' button under the video screen and choose the speed you want to view the video. Kirsty and Adam have been doing these videos for a long time and they know what's best for the channel. In case you haven't noticed, they get a LOT of views from their 1.66 MILLION subscribers! That tells me that they know what they are doing just fine without any input from those of us in the peanut gallery.

You have a point, but Kirsti does have videos in the Naio library that goes over in detail, the application for the different shapes and the different techniques. These Fay videos are more about Fay being Fay, the fun and creativity. There’s tips in there because that’s how Kirsti is, but these are not her tutorial videos.

It's better to wear them during the pandemic, if at all possible. You don't want to have to police your client's every nose or eye scratch. Some nail techs ALWAYS wear gloves to protect their own nails.
