Shadow company turning “evil” felt undeserved and had zero build up. To make them evil they literally just had them slaughter a city for almost no reason. It was very over the top and took me out of the story. Shepard isn’t even really a bad guy. He just tried to send American allies missiles through illegal means. All Shepard did was put a new unit in charge of the area of operations and that makes him evil? The game didn’t rly do a good job with its “villains”.

Agree, the game kind of felt like the plot of All Ghillied Up stretched out to the length of a game with plot elements and set pieces from the original mw2 sprinkled throughout kind of haphazardly. Not a bad campaign, but definitely not one of the better ones. I will say I probably had more enjoyment out of it than Cold War's campaign.

I completed campaing 2 times and didnt get it, like we are literally attacking russian factory in Russia, im not even asking how the hell did we get so close inside of russian territory, then, i mean, i understand when authors use imaginary war crimes in plot to make evil look evil, like every film, book or game is made like this, but in mw like every single war crime made by russians, by Barkofs army (i don't remember his name), in real life was US army fault. When i saw highway of death (in cod) and it was stated, that russian ay did it, i was like whaaaaat Damn i f love cod, it looks so realistic and when ibplay i really feel like im here, but in moments like this, when i don't just shoot and start to think about whats happening.... I wonder, when you are writing a main story, is it really hard to notice moments like you describe? Or author just gives 0 f?

The actual Russian government even gives you the defuse codes for the nukes. The beginning of MW2 reveals that the rebellion/overthrow was successful explaining why they were so hungry for war.

Graves is the commander of Shadow who does care about his men originally just from his dialog, he wasn't playing dumb, his men got caught in paramilitary ambush fire and were being slaughtered, Graves wanted Shepherd to send in reinforcements which would be the marines which would be recorded in the books which is why Shepherd denied Graves help for his men and did not report the incident.

From what I understand, Konni is essentially Russia’s in universe equivalent of Shadow Company, probably based off the real life Wagner group. Makarov and The Inner Circle hired Mercenaries in the original MW trilogy, but they never specified what PMC they hired them from. I wonder if Konni is meant to fill in the gap as to who. Easily the most interesting part of the story for me.

I miss when cod games threw you in as a relatively unnotable character, i.e. Ramirez, Jackson, and to an extent Roach. Diapolo doesn’t have a backstory, nor a recognizable face. Nowadays you're always a fleshed out, well known, special forces guy. Being a run of the mill guy in a unit is something new cod games are missing imo. Edit: The first mission in MWIII has that same feeling of being a soldier and noting more up until the reason you're there is shown, at which point the game made me feel like my character was somehow special.

They are the solution to the exact problem you are whining about, since they make it so you die in 1-2 shots throughout the whole campaign. I remember in the early stages of the campaign mode. When Ghost and his crew recovered the ballistic missile that where Hassan was hiding in the warehouse. General Shepard goes to Laswell’s face saying that she had something to do with it, but shoot me out the real suspect was general Shepard because if you’re a four-star general, and knowing that the mission didn’t go as planned, you can’t hide the mission because that makes you a Absolute traitor. Also, the Russian PMC well I thought they were like the Wagner Guys but now I can see those weren’t the real Russian Ground forces nor the Spetsnaz. They were the ultranationalist led by Vladimir Makarov. can’t wait for them to be seen in modern warfare 3 coming. I wouldn’t say this year probably two or three years from now. I remember in the original model warfare 2 of (2009) Captain Price & Soap MacTavish we’re both labeled as criminals when goes in his team were assassinated. But in the reboot of MW2 it is general Shepard, that is completely labeled as a Criminal. Plus, the shadow Company may have been defeated, but they’re not completely disbanded yet. There was general Shepard currently hiding somewhere unknown plus we will find out what happens in Call of Duty® modern warfare 3 the answers will be revealed.

As much as I like the original series, Shepherd betraying 141 was so unexpected and random. In the "Reboot Universe" though, it actually gives him reason why he betrays the group because of this incident and rather than owning up and facing the consequences, he instead tries to "clean house".

There's way more sense in the OG Trilogy for Shepherd to betray TF141. He's pushing revenge over the Ultranationalist because Makarov killed 40K of his men in the Middle East with that Nuke. He preffered to "ally" temporaly with his main enemy to better kill him afterwards. OG trilogy was better as of now. But i guess MWIII will give us more hidden clues on the current scenario
