The green vegetable is bok choy , UKNOWN in Russia. NEVER put preserves into the tea! That was a selection of preserves to be eatean with a teaspoon while you drink your tea. Rose jam is unknown in Russia, it is Bulgarian or Turkish. Athentic was red beat soup - borshch, and the cabbage roll, golubtzy. Meat is never cooked in beer in Russia, it is a Belgian dish called Carbonade Flamande. Drinking vodka from a wine glass is something that is NEVER done.

Matthew Maly Pretty sure it was water in the wine glass. Otherwise, I agree with your comment.

He said it was a triple shot of vodka and made quite a face after drinking it. Probably a joke.

Yeah the vodka thing was a joke, at the end he admitted it was water ! Thanks for the comments on the authenticity. Most cuisines are somewhat modified in Japan in my experience, still delicious, but not always 100% authentic.

Judging by his cheeky smile at the end, I'm gonna say he put the jam in the tea on purpose to trigger the food police officers like yourself. What if I told you you walked right into his trap?

That's not true, Russians add beer to stewed meat. Rose jam is used in western RUssia. Don't lie

Golubtsy (cabbage roll) with cheese sauce? Oh my god, no! )))) And the first dish is not a soup, it's an appetizer, from France called julienne, but very popular in Russia. And the beef stew I suppose it'll be BefStroganoff, but why with rice? Potato puree or buckwheat... I think it's a locally adapted food =))

Well, interestingly, Russians put rice into their cabbage rolls but the Japanese do not.

The sauce on the cabbage rolls is sour cream with paprika in it (called paprikash), not cheese sauce as some of you have assumed. I believe the jam with the small berries is black currant, which is very popular in Russia and, yes, it is often stirred directly into the tea as eating it by the spoonful and sipping the tea after just makes the tea taste more bitter. Most Russians just stir it into the tea instead of using sugar.

In the supermarket in Australia i work at the green is called Pak choy which is different from Buk choy in that it is more green compared to the whiter Buk choy. :)

I don't know how authentic that is, but it looks delicious to me !! (Disclaimer: I live on a strict budget, and most of the places Eric eats at look delicious. Food experts will probably point out all the flaws in the meal and tell me I'm wrong and this place is average).

typical Eric's meal style. He jammed all jams into tea and drank it. haha. It looks more like hippy lunch. It probably didn't fill up Eric's stomach. That might be why he rated nom nom.

IDC! People should really be more courteous to the other diners in restaurants. The volume that these people are talking at is quit obnoxious. I would've taken my appetite elsewhere. This is just my opinion. I'm not being mean I'm being real. People should be more courteous to others in restaurants for sure. Even so great video Eric and I love the worldly cuisines authentic, or not authentic. They are all a good watch and that's the important thing! TC, Kelly :))

Wtf, why is Russian food so expensive. Literally every Russian restraunt I've been to they give you little food for so much money. Don't see that with any other type of food like Asian or others. They gotta learn that this ain't Russia and shouldn't rip customers off like that. I mean just in that one meat plate, you got 3 pieces of meat, small amount of rice, and greens.
