I'm Russian and this was totally ridiculous!!:D but I hated 2 things: 1) her fake (in my opinion) accent, that made my understanding of her speech really difficult; - too much "R" sound 2) TOO MUCH VODKA!! Did anyone guess what the 3-finger gesture means? If I remember the movie correctly it meant that Shurik (the name of the character) had some vodka hidden and wanted to share it with the other two. Is that correct?

Most interesting is the fact that there is little difference between Russians, and those of us who live in North America. I must say that the Russian alphabet appears to be a bit complicated, though.
@kazm193611 жыл бұрын
the alphabet isn't very hard. The grammar though.
@terrafirma9111 жыл бұрын
kazm1936 The grammar is very important. They probably place the verb in different locations within a sentence, like many other languages. It seems like a lot of Y sounds in the language, too.
@kazm193611 жыл бұрын
terrafirma91 The russian y is pronounced like the English oo if that's what you mean. The hardest thing about the grammar is the fact that there are lots of exceptions that are hard/impossible to explain that you just have to accept. For example if you would say 2 cows in Russian you would use the genitive form singular, if you say 5 cows you use the genitive plural, even if the word aren't really used as a genitive in the sentence. This kind of stuff makes it hard because often you just have to learn things by hearth and you can't use common sense. The place of the verbs aren't that different from where they are in English. That's probably one of the easier parts of their grammar.
@terrafirma9111 жыл бұрын
kazm1936 Russian seems to be a language that is best learned by complete immersion, being around Russian speakers for a long period of time. That is if they don't speak too fast.
@kazm193611 жыл бұрын

The sign means I'am looking for partners to buy vodka. The amount of fingers means how many more drinkers are required. Usually a group is three drinkers for 2 500ml bottles. The skit shows the guy showing 3 fingers, which is either a joke or he is looking for a large group.

As an expat living in Moscow, I spend most of my life having babushki shake their fingers at me. The fact that I am foreign and exist on their glorious Russian soil and breathe their beautiful Russian air (except near Leninsky Prospekt during rush hour when the air isn't so beautiful) is enough to make them angry. But that's just babushki. Everyone else is cool.
