Regarding the air conditioning problem indoors when I was going through menopause, my daughter was sixteen and her brother was three. SOMEONE kept messing with the thermostat increasing the room temperatures to 75 deg F when I was having nonstop hot flashes. Thermostat wars ensued. Finally, I caught the culprit in the act. Jennifer! I had to put in place a modus vivendi (an arrangement or agreement allowing conflicting parties to coexist peacefully, either indefinitely or until a final settlement is reached) where the thermostat was set to 72 deg F. Jennifer would wear long sleeves and long pants while I wore shorts and short sleeved shirts. Jennifer was told that if she touched the thermostat to mess with the temperature that it would be permanently set to 65 deg F which was what was comfortable for ME. She decided discretion was the better part of valor and never touched the thermostat again. Carpet is useful for large rooms so there isn't echoing of noise and, of course, bedrooms for sound deadening. I don't like wall to wall carpet due to cleaning problems and dust accumulation. A throw rug or Persian rug is more practical. Bar culture is for young people to socialize with dancing or a live band or just hanging out with. If you don't drink alcohol just order a Virgin drink like a Virgin Pina Colada. A Sports Bar is a great place to watch professional sports. During the pandemic the liquor stores in my little town immediately added drive through service. Only in places where there is gambling like Las Vegas have drive through wedding chapels.

The pandemic is what led to shopping online, pickup at store with no actual contact. We had what was called a blue law many years ago - stores were closed except you could buy groceries on Sunday. Now we are so populated with people things are open longer and working around the clock. Traffic would be even worse if everyone was on the road at the same time.

A couple of the reasons why stores will set the AC lower than normally comfortable are that people go in and out of businesses often which causes the cold air from inside to escape. To prevent it from getting hot from the constant opening and closing during the hottest part of the day, they'll cool it to below comfortable while it's cool out so that it doesn't get overly hot in the high afternoon heat. The second reason I'll mention is that in businesses with physically active work, people are often getting heated up from the activity. Keeping the temperature lower helps keep the employees cooler as they work and also helps prevent heat related health problems.

Since you don't drink, you might want to get to the bar a little bit earlier before so many people have been drinking. You could arrive around 10:00 pm. By then, there will be a fair number of people there to meet, but they will not be drunk. By midnight, you'll probably be ready to go unless you find someone there you like. They will also serve non-alcoholic drinks to people who ask for them, but they will probably be kind of small for the price. I'd suggest that you visit some of the bars in the Montrose district in Houston. You might even find a piano bar or something like that where it will be quieter so you can talk to people. But if you like dancing, there are plenty of dance clubs, but don't expect them to be quiet enough to talk. Some will even feature what I call box-boys who dance in very skimpy clothes and accept tips from patrons who appreciate them. Some will be very friendly. Others will be a little reserved despite being on full display. There may be a little rack near the door with free magazines that will include advertisements for a lot of clubs. That would let you plan for where you might want to go the next time.

The term of a lease only guarantees the amount of rent per month during the lease. The apartment can raise prices when lease expires.

Hi Alex, thank you so much for your video. There are really huge differences between Germany and the American way of life. As a simple German from Germany live here my whole life I can confirm what the girl said. No, we aren't really spontaneous and not very fast in making any decisions. America is much cooler than Germany, though America of course has laws and rules, maybe even stricter in some points than in my country. America is freedom for me though we have very much freedom as well - in any case very! much more than people in Russia. When you go to a club you usually don't go there before 11 p.m. (they usually open in the late evening) and stay until the early morning. Clubs and discos in Germany are expensive, you can spend lots of money there, to leave 100 Euro in a disco during one night is not problem... If you go to a bar you should order a drink, in a restaurants you should order a drink and a meal ... (restaurants "dislike" guest who only have a drink, I heard that some restaurants would even expell guests who only have a drink ...). Most of our music was and is from USA (in my childhood I listened once a week to American Top 40 on Radio AFN, they had different music to our charts). Of course we have very much modern music made in Germany, but I think you usually won't hear it in the USA. In our charts, radio most music is made in USA or in UK. No, we don't move often, and when we move we try to find a place where we stay for a long time, and we work in same companies for long times, with luck our whole life. Many of us (the same with me) plan our day, our life, our vacations etc. We make plans, sometimes plans for plans, we think about the plans, the plans need to be discussed and so on ... and then we make a decision (or not)😂 Wishing you all the best and a happy time in the USA. 👋

Ditto... but mine is out due to the storm of course.. I think I'm last on the list to get my wires reattached to my house!! I'm having to watch his videos at the library. But it will be closed tomorrow for July 4th. so will have to come back on the 5th or 6th (won't have internet till July 11th, their service is awful)

I don't think Americans buy a house and sell it later to move around. Most of the people i know do this to go to a bigger house to upsize or later to a smaller house to downsize usually you upside to get more room for having children or just because you couldn't afford a bigger house when you are younger. Great video Aleks 😊

Through my work I travel quite a bit and visit homes. Nothing worse than being in business attire and visiting a home in, say, Florida in July that has no air conditioning. I've left many a sweat puddle on a dining room table while the host attempts to dump ice tea in me to staunch the flow! 😆

Did you know that Germany's first bank bills (D-Mark) after WWII were made in USA? In 1948 they arrived Bremerhaven seaport (Bremerhaven was US American occupation zone) in 23k wooden boxes, the code name was "Bird Dog". Since January 1st 2002 our currency is Euro.

Fun fact: the majority of U.S. states have a record high temperature _higher_ than Florida's (many of the Midwest/Northern states have had _much_ higher temps). The humidity and prolonged months without a break are what make Florida a contender in "Sweatiest Summers!" BTW, the majority of U.S and Canadian heat records are from before 1940 when folks were lucky to have a fan that wasn't powered by their arm. 🥵😂

I'm in Texas as well, we keep our A/C on 65. It usually never actually gets to 65 though because it's so hot outside, and an air conditioner can only do so much, so it ends up staying on like 18 hours per day....Very expensive summers 😆

Hi Aleks! Wonderful video reaction! You might like to visit a popular gay bar in your area. But personally, I do not really like bars no matter if they are a straight bar or gay bar. Gay bars are sometimes dark and hard to see people with loud music being hard to hear people talking. But for me same as you, I am not a bar person.
