Do the Polish-Balarusian border. The new approach to the weaponizing of the emigrants Russia took from Syria and Iraq and carried onboard the Aeroflot planes to Minsk and from there escorted by Specnaz straight to the border. In my opinion this is meant to give the current Polish government a nice shiny look of defenders of the nation. Putin takes this measures because he know the longer PiS party rules in Poland the more chaotic the country becames. And he just saved them from premature elections...

It's self-irony - but there's also subtle wisdom in the fact that brute repetition creates athletic skill - after all, battles aren't won by scholarly intellect, but stubborn refusal to run in face of lethal threat. Russia has vast territory, many 'disputed' territories and borders China. Conscription is a means of having a trained and logistically prepared reserve which Russia desperately needs to protect their borders in case of a major conflict. All countries would do well to at least incentivize conscription-like military service to train their population.
@actionidiot75463 жыл бұрын
Problem is not necessarily pleasing the young voters, but more the old generals. The Russian military still has some of the old and bold who want a giant Cold War style Army. Don’t get me wrong there are generals who think that a smaller professional army is good, but there are still enough of the others to make it difficult. Just look at their transition to Brigade Combat Teams, that was meant to be part of the reforms to make Russia more professional and streamlined. Now half of the Brigades are back to being Divisions. Though the introduction of a dedicated military police and an attempt to stamp out on the ‘traditional’ bullying of new recruits are signs that reform is making its way into the military, so maybe in the future conscription will be gone.
@blacklight47203 жыл бұрын
You have no idea what you're talking about. 1 year of conscription!? Modern military infantrymen just train for 1 year(basic training+advanced training), to be anywhere effective. My guess it's out of context number such as 1 year for women or 1 year for a rear conscript.

One has to remember that Georgian war was fought by secondary units - i.e. not western military district facing EU but by units deployed in the southern underbelly. Regarding thermal signature - you can remove one yourself using simple thermal blanket. Thermal blanket usually costs few dollars and as long as it is above you and not touching you etc. you are ... invisible. All cool and great but clothing does not "hoover" over your body. As for a lot of other stuff - its same as in the US - experimental use.

Didn't they fight that with troops already in Caucasus. Meaning people they expect to need to get shot at by Chechens and like. And they had already started relying heavily on contract solders for such high intensity regions. I used to work for Northrop Grumman ground systems and currently with NASA. The problem with high tech equipment with Infantry are: Battery power, miniaturization and ruggedness/reliability. We’re just now getting to the point where the system’s are small enough, the ruggedness/reliability is already there but battery power is still an issue (but will probably be resolved pretty soon). It’s easy to install a system into a tank or aircraft because it has a generator in the system. It’s rugged because it’s in a armored craft and size doesn’t matter for obvious reasons.

I agree that even if you managed to prevent a 50BMG from penetrating, the receiving guy is gonna get a massive shock. Even if he survives it, he's gonna be looking at ruptured organs, torn muscles, and an almost literal splitting headache from concussion at minimum. I think. Let alone lost or highly damaged limbs if it's a limb shot. So yeah, even if Russia can make armor which can stop a 50BMG (especially an AP one) shot, the solution will be fairly simple, if costly and will take additional training depending on the environment.
@arthas6403 жыл бұрын

By limiting the deformation, the energy is spread over the entire torso. If the armor is just made to stop a round, but doesn't satisfy the ratings then it can kill a person by penetrative injury. There's a video on youtube of a subsonic 300 BLK round versus a IIIA vest. The round is stopped by the vest, but in slow motion it's clearly visible that the bullet pushed the vest several inches into the ballistics gel, so IIIA doesn't stop 300BLK even though the vest catches the round.

Plate carriers use trauma pads between the plates and your body for a reason. Without them, you can be wearing level 4+ rifle plates, get hit with a 7.62x39 round in the plates, and die. Without trauma pads to absorb some of the kinetic energy, the impact of the round can still push/compress and tear soft organs. It's like throwing a cinder block into a pond. Some interesting facts about Georgian gear. After the Georgian war in 2008 a russian guy had a voyage to Ossetia. I don't know what he was doing there, I suggest he was a sapper and neutralized mines after the war. After his voyage he wrote an article about Georgian gear. He said that a huge part of Georgian gear had poor quality: uniform and ammo vests looked like chinese-made cheap airsoft stuff. Body armors had good armor plates, but their fabrics was cheap and they were sewed badly. Their copies of ALICE packs had frames made of soft aluminium, they could be bent by hands. Their firearms were Bushmaster AR-15, they often jammed (maybe the reason was poor quality of cartriges). His whole impression of a 2008's Georgean army was a "one-time army", created and equipped for just one operation: capturing South Ossetia. Of course they had nice things too: South African kevlar helmets, American radios, UAV's, Turkish-made combat boots. So, Russian army had a lot of problems with gear and equipment, but Georgian stuff was not much better.

Best is the enemy of good enough. The size of Russian task force in Georgia was quite comparable with Georgian Army, and Georgia was better equipped. Much better equipped. The war still lasted 8 days. We tend to think Russia is so huge and Georgia is so minute, but in reality number of soldiers on the battlefields isn't necessarily always proportionate. And Georgians were prepared and were defending in the mountains giving them huge advantage.. If Russians broke Georgian resistance in 8 days.. imagine what it is capable of achieving after modernisation. It is a western cultural thing to deliberately downplay enemy in front of potential conscripts (future victims of war), any lost war is followed by an info war, where compilation of local successes, paints a different picture of otherwise a miserable defeat. Pick and choose details, but ignore elephants in the room. how else do you rally people to give their lives for the interests of the ruling class? @@candios333 I have heard this argument too but the guys fighting at Antonov Airport in Hostomel were elite Russian Airborne Spetsnaz moved in by helicopter who faced off against allegedly Ukrainian "Alpha" group (former) Spetsnaz. The Alpha Group of Ukraine are credited as part of the elite Soviet Spetsnaz force who stormed the Afghan President Palace (Storm 333) We have also seen Ukraine forces knock out T-90 tanks. Thats the best most modern tank russia have. The T-14 Armata program isnt yet in production. T-90 is the best.. We also have seen russian Chechnya forces (V instead of Z) being burning wrecks at Bucha. Russia DO have superiority in numbers but the "elite" status of Russian forces have gotten a serious blow against reputation.

Your misled on a few points...the exoskeleton is going to be intergrated in future as part of a much more complex combat system... similarly with the Russian new development in armor...future soldiers will be able to withstand a 50 cal round with the use of exoskeleton...purely guess work based on some videos I've seen on KZbin.

Russians were just doing an Escape From Tarkov scav run in Georgia. They went in with steel pot helms and no body armor, killed a few PMCs, got their gear, and invaded Ukraine on their mains next.

Does the ratnik system integrate with drones for intel and communication with sites outside of the battle site? Seems important to have that because drones can provide real time intel and monitoring troop movement is useful in a variety of situations. Seems like everyone developing exoskeletons were inspired by the Fallout video game's power armour

@@bruhdabones f35 doesn't emit radar out of every square inch of its surface. We have a thing that blocks infrared radiation, it's called insulation. You can't just seal in body heat without sending the heat somewhere. Their claim is bullshit.
