Russian missile hits residential building in Ukrainian capital Kyiv as fighting rages

A missile has hit an apartment building in Kyiv, as fighting between Ukrainian and invading Russian forces rages on.
Harrowing images from the Ukrainian capital show burning vehicles, buildings blasted by missiles and flames lighting up the night sky.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said there was "active fighting on the streets of our city" as the conflict intensified.
As Russia forces tried to fight their way through the streets of the capital, during the night, dramatic video showed a blazing vehicle on Kyiv's Peremohy (Victory) Avenue.
With dawn breaking over the city, the extent of the damage inflicted on Kyiv became clear with images showing smouldering blocks of flats.
Fighting appeared to be raging close to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany) in Kyiv with video residential tower blocks hit by missiles and residents pulled from the rubble.
Soldiers were seen next to the charred remains on vehicles in the city's roads.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy growled a message of defiance as he refused a US offer of evacuation reportedly saying: "I need ammo not a ride."

The Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile of the Buk M1 complex was fired to destroy cruise missiles that fly at low altitude. Therefore, the flight path of the Buk rocket was almost horizontal. Since the Ukrainian air defense uses anti-aircraft missiles, which are more than 30 years old and have already expired, the rocket began to lose altitude and hit a residential building.

This is Ukrainian ground-to-air missile (Buk-M1) in attempt to intercept Russian cruise missile. It failed controlled fly due to lack of maintenance, because it is quite aged. Finally this case became part of regular fakes about Russian attacks on civil objects. You may guess why some missile "attacked" appartments building only once, and why this building still stay stand while being target of attack it should have been just pile of debris.

That was a Ukrainian missile. A Russian caliber doesn't emit smoke (only at the launch phase then the engine takes over) and the trajectory isn't parabolic meaning it was launched from the ground. I'd say that missile was launched 1 -1.5 km away. The Ukrainian military is firing missiles at their own buildings and blaming the Russians.

That's most likely a Ukrainian anti air missile, given 3 things: 1. The Russians had not advanced to this side of the building (and in fact were on the other side of the city) at the time of filming. 2. The missile looks to be in its initial boost phase with the smoke trail, which is not indicative of a cruise missile in its terminal phase. 3. The explosion is much to small to be caused by any missile in the Russian arsenal that is designed to hit buildings, and instead looks like the much smaller warhead of a SAM.

failed s300 launch. see that contrail, no missile in last stage, no cruise missile, leave a contrail that size. if that was kaliber, it failed to detonate. that building would have been a few feet shorter. its sad the how the 1st victim in war is the truth.

According to the video, the explosion power is obviously not cruise missile level (if it is a cruise missile with hundreds of kilograms of warhead, the whole building will collapse). The white smoke behind the missile body basically eliminates the possibility of a cruise missile, because several cruise missiles attacking land in Russia are powered by turbojet. But if cruise missiles are excluded, there are more problems. If rockets are involved, the biggest problem is why there are no reports of rocket fire covering and bombing around the hit building.
