I just draw your attention to the fact that those who were lagging all the time, suddenly made the only huge breakthrough forward, and then again ended up at the end of the race. If the Russians do not do everything better than the Yankees, then why are they always the first? Why are those (as you say) who are better than me breathing down my back? Fake news. This is experiment about reduce time which need to prepare people for space. This program is even shorter than before was used when Russia sent space tourists. Even more, specially for it was developed new modification of Soyuz spaceship which possibly to control by only one professional cosmonaut. When this program launched, including creation of new spaceship, Tom Cruise even not dreamed about some movies in space. Film makers was chosen as the most unprepared people, experiment exactly about preparation of unprofessionals (e.g. doctors), real cosmonauts still will be prepared for 10 years. It is part of Lunar program, how to send on Moon a lot of people which are non professional cosmonauts and how to do it cheap and fast. P.S. First non-documental movie which partly was made in space arrived else in 1980s in USSR (even with a bit similar plot - cosmonauts saved another crew after disaster). So this will be second “space movie”. Only sick mind saw in this some race.
