In 2021, we celebrate the 115th birthday of the aircraft designer A.S. Yakovlev, in whose honor a special exhibition will be held at the Vadim Zadorozhny’s Museum of Technology, together with the Yakovlev Design Bureau. One of the events of the exhibition was a photo session of Yak aircraft flying on tests at the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky. And I joined this photo session to shoot something beautiful for you!
Special thanks to O.F. Demchenko, M.V. Shcherbakov, the management of the Design Bureau, the Museum and all the employees of the Yak Research Institute for such an adventure! Now you can walk around the Institute with us!
Thank you for watching!

Mitsubishi Spacejet program cost- 6.5 billion Bombardier C-Series program cost - 7 billion Sukhoi Superjet program cost - 1.5 billion Now the SSJ program has had its fair share of problems. But you can see Russia's pricing power.

Non interlinked sidestick have been implicated in Airbus crashes and incidents, where the pilot doesn't know what the other pilot is doing. Recently (decade timescale), a Western company developed a solution to make both sidesticks move at the same time, and it attracted the interest of the UK military and seemingly, at least one business jet maker. So, the MC21 having this feature is an impressive.

I hope the new MC-21 is a success for Russia. I read that the Sukhoi Superjet 100 was also getting a new engine and a update as well. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Which is where Beechcraft , Cessna and Learjet originated. They continue to manufacture and build many jets and propellor driven aircraft to this day. I am a new subscriber to your channel. You are an excellent narrator. Your English is far better than my Russian.

Russia had the best designs aesthetically - although I know my country (UK) had high hopes for the Hawker Siddeley Trident but it seems that 4 engine laws for long distance travel pretty much killed the tri-jet - such a shame!

@@JohnnyWednesday BEA pretty much killed the Trident by wanting something smaller than de Haviland wanted to build, so we didn't get the new Rolls-Royce engine. de Haviland's naivety when talking to Boeing didn't help any either.

I flew on a YK-40 from Moscow to Ulyonosk (sp) in August 2002 (and again in November of 2002). It seemed two days older than dirt at that time, no thrills, miserable jet to fly in. I am sure my memory is false, but I could swear, I remember chickens being transported in the cabin. Like our flights in Aeroflot 767's, I found the crew to be rude and matter of fact (which I appreciate more and more). I think they hated their jobs and much as we hated to be flying on the YK-40. lol It did get us to where we were going safely. At the time, I thought of the YK40 as a miniature 727. We did board through the rear stairs. Only one time have I done that in a 727 (Well before 9:11).

Not true, there are really many people who wants to return to Soviet Union. I know the grass was greener and they were younger. But the fact is this number increases, those wishing to return back to the USSR. And it's 30 years passed and the number of those who know personally how it was gets lower and lower. The reason is just people's low income and no savings. And people think the state should care about them, as it was a socialistic state (that economically failed, they forget about it). Many people think it was a great empire that produced spaceships, nuclear submarines, etc... achievements in sports in olympiads, in football... And now we just have smaller remnants of that civilazation. Also there is some state propaganda that usually brings soviet era in positive light, great times. Actually there were lots of great achievements. I can't say which number is bigger, those who say Stalin was good and red flag is admirable, or those who hate the name of Stalin. People don't often express their feelings in this way. But there are many folks on both sides.
@watershed44
@watershed44 3 жыл бұрын
@@AndreyPutilov Russia was actually a major middle class nation prior to the commies defeating the white army. That's right prior to the 1917 commie takeover there were actually more middle class people in Russia than in the USA, and the nation was richer than the USA as well. Commienism took over the devastated the Russian People many of the best and brightest people were brutally murdered as many as 60 million Russian Christians were killed by Stalin and subsequent dictators from the 1930s-1950s.

2:22 That MC-21's engines seem MUCH too close to the ground. Those are just begging to scrape the runway with just a common gust of wind on landing. If mild, they'll still lose hundreds of thousands inspecting the damage. If more than mild, jet flips over. Am I wrong or is that extremely obvious?

When all of the political issues between Russia and the U.S. is overwith, I hope to see the MC-21 flying with airlines in the U.S.. The 737MAX, in my opinion, is still an unsafe plane. The C919 and MC-21 will make great competitors to Boeing especially. Airlines can purchase them cheaper than a 737MAX. For up to 3,000 miles, they can easily make Los Angeles to New York non-stop. These might be the answer to low cost airlines if Russia and China can provide spare parts. Perhaps not as advanced as the Airbus neo, the MC-21 looks like a sturdy and reliable jet that would provide comfort and attract customers here in the US and in Europe. I wish the MC-21 good luck as for the money, an airline will get a great plane for the money. History has shown Russia has built great, long lasting aircraft.
