To be clear, Jenny died of AIDS. Considering this film flew threw the 50's, 60's, 70's unto the 80's, doctors at the time had no clue about HIV/AIDS, so that's what got Jenny. Due to the dirty narcotics, she was also with many guys, one of them had to infect her.

27 years later, and this movie is still a masterpiece. Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise always worked so well together. They also both starred in Apollo 13 in 1995, which is a great movie based on true events. There's just something about the 90's having a lot of great movies. Not sure if it's childhood nostalgia, or if Hollywood was just in the zone during that decade, but 1994's The Crow is still my favorite movie. Dark, tragic, romantic, funny, action, science fiction, and drama all in one movie with an absolute killer soundtrack that opened up whole new worlds of music to pre-teen me who had no business watching that movie that young lol.

OCS is Officer Candidate School, where officers are trained in the basics, in order to become a Second Lieutenant (the lowest of the commissioned officer ranks) The medal he was awarded is the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest military award in the USA, given only for "conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty". It is awarded by the Congress, and is presented by the President. The CMH is similar to the "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal given by the USSR back in the old days. I hope this helps, Beautiful!

Many people hate Jenny for what she did to Forrest, but people need to understand the past trauma that made Jenny like this. Basically, Jenny was sexually and physically abused since she was a toddler, and *NOBODY* was there to put a stop to it. As a result, Jenny's mind was brainwashed and deluded and made her believe that she can handle the abuse no matter what and that she doesn't need help. That's why she rejected Forrest's help and intervention whenever she was assaulted or harrassed, why she never answered the letters that Forrest wrote to her while he was in Vietnam, and why she ran away from Forrest several times, becuase she believes she doesn't deserve love or help at all. She never learned to love, value, or respect herself, so instead of loving herself or Forrest, all she ever learned was to love those who abuse her, take advantage of her, or manipulate her. She also believes that she's not Forrest's type and she was only doing all of that for Forrest's sake. She told Forrest that he didn't know what love is, when in actuality, she's the one who didn't know what love is. Instead of accepting sweet and real love like Forrest's, all she accepted was hard love from her father and boyfriends. It was basically that the more Jenny hangs out with Forrest and adapts to his optimism and sweetness unlike her previous boyfriends, the more it takes for her to think about the past actions and selfishness towards Forrest all caused by her low self-esteem and trauma. It also took big red flags for her to realize her past actions, especially when she realized that she has an incurable sexually-transmitted disease and she has a son with Forrest that kind of made her a changed and more responsible person. But sadly, in this world we live in, it's a real thing that can actually happen to anyone, especially an innocent, defenseless toddler. Families and homes, similar to what Jenny grew up with, still exist today. :(

I’ve watched Forrest Gump probably at least 8 times, and I’ve watched a couple reactions to it. I can get through the movie just fine, except for one part. When he meets his son, and Forrests first question, above all other questions he could’ve asked, is: “is he smart, or is he like me” and that line genuinely hurts. It puts a knot in my throat and gets my chest all tight, usually gets a couple good tears. I’ve watched a lot of movies, and rewatched a lot of movies, I can’t think of a single line of dialogue that compares to that line I spoke of. Nothing in anything else I’ve watched made me feel the pain I felt when he asked that question as his very first concern. That’s pain.

First off, gotta say very good movie request, It´s one of my fav movies also (Tom Hanks, delivers in pretty much in all his movies) but it has a whole lot of historical references that most young people outside the US and perhaps even in the US won't get resulting in some people that I know, disliking the movie, cause they don´t get those references and get frustrated. Aside from that, the story is pretty much straightforward, a life lesson, a mother's unconditional love, that no matter the odds, no matter your handicap, if you have the heart there´s nothing you can´t reach. Btw .. loved your Frenchie snoring, kinda reminded me of my late bulldog that died last year, sure do miss that smelly little demon.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Irina! To me this movie is truly unique, I don't know any movie to compare it with and I think it is the ultimate bitterweet movie. I see Forest as the feather, picked up by the wind. To me the power of the film - amongst others - lies in the relativating tone of the dramatic events (like "he was always kissing and touching her and her sisters"). Scenes that really stood out to me are of course the meeting with his son - "is he ..... smart , or ....." - and the rockthrwowing scene - "I guess sometimes there just aren't enough rocks". Thanks again, till a next time and warm regards from the Netherlands!

This was one of the few DVDs my dad had so my sister and I would watch it like every night before bed when I was a kid. Despite how much nostalgia I have for this movie, there's a funny story about how much the writer of the book this is based on hated it. He wrote a second book and made it so crazy and stupid that they'd never make a movie out of it. Like, Forrest going to space and fighting in a war with a chimpanzee sidekick kinda crazy. And the funniest part is, Forrest opens the book with "Don't ever let no one make a movie about your life."

That feather is a metaphor used in the movie , that we can’t control life and where it leads , when truly that life is a uncontrollable path that’s part of love ,pain ,loss, happiness ,depression etc . Like we can’t control a feather in the air, it has its own path

Great reaction! just found your channel, another great movie you should react to with Tom Hanks is The Green Mile, react to Leon the professional, ( the directors cut ) and V for Vendetta, both with Natalie Portman!

Thank you so much Donald , I have to check those out

All great suggestions Don. I own "Leon" & "V for Vandetta" and Natalie Portman is great in both. Irina, you should enjoy seeing her growth as an actress starting at age 12 in "Leon" and in her twenties in "V".

Another movie you should look in to is "Its a Wonderful Life", it is an American classic movie we watch at Christmas time. One man does make a difference.

Agree 100%. With Christmas coming it would be a perfect choice. Love your reactions Irina. Always sincere and heartfelt.

Easily in my Top 10 of fave films of all time - a miracle of a film. The only time Forrest questions his intelligence is in fear that his son is like him in that respect - Niagara Falls (surprised you managed to not cry there but in the next moment when Jenny dies oh yeah the tears come again ; when the birds fly away as if ushering her soul to Heaven - kills me every time). For Jenny always running away she always came home to Forrest - her constant in life - and the fact she gives him the best advice for being in Vietnam - to run away :D Hugs to you xoxo

Tonight I watched you with the movie Saving Private Ryan. Right after that I watched you with Florence Gump. I'm going to subscribe to your channel. When I was watching Saving Private Ryan, I remembered thoughts of my dad. He was in boot camp, training to go on the front lines in World War II. During his training his shoulder got dislocated, and they gave him a medical discharge and he was sent back home. His platoon of all the men he trained with, went to war and every one of them were killed. My Lord God saved my father's life. And because of that he married and had three children. I'm proud of my dad. Bless his soul. Mom and dad are now with the Lord. My heart goes out to all of the people who served in the war. Thank you all for your service to set us free. 😢🙏 When I was watching Florence Gump with you it reminded me of a love that I once had... We had moved from Arizona to Wisconsin, just out of the blue she was gone. 2 years later after that she filed for a divorce and married someone else. My heart was broken. I almost committed suicide twice.I was a nervous wreck. I had no family or friends around. I was all by myself. I've been alone now for many years. Thank you for the reactions to these movies. You've got a kind and a sweet heart. I really liked your reactions. I'm sorry for making this so long. Thank you. 😊

I’m not an emotional person with the movies, but I cried also I think two parts in this movie. One when Bubba died and MORE when Jenny runs across the lake you should’ve let that play out in full

Forrest Gump came out the year I was born and I can't tell you how many times I've watched it. 1994 had an amazing line up of important movies that I'd recommend. PULP FICTON THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, two of my all time favorites. The Lion King Clerks The Crow Dumb and Dumber The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure Aladdin II: The Return of Jafar Speed. These are just my favorites that year. You should watch The Shawshank Redemption.

Great video today Irina! It would be cool if you do more 20-30 minute movie reactions. I'm sure it takes a lot of time and work editing though. If you want to watch another classic Tom Hanks movie like Ninja I suggest Saving Private Ryan.
