I was 14 when this song came out, and I thought it was a joke--I did not know they were serious. But I was listening to The Police, The Ramones, The Clash, the fringe music that was the forerunner to the alt-rock 90's. However, you mentioned Jazz, and Swing is heavily related. So, for more modern artists, I recommend Brian Setzer Orchestra, and their cover of "In the Mood." Or, you could get more classic with that song with Glenn Miller and the Andrews Sisters. Then you got Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, and my personal fave, Fats Waller. For more recent performers, Harry Connick Jr and Diana Krall come to mind...

George Michael also recorded some jazzy songs. Worth mentioning are Kissing A Fool, Cowboys And Angels or his cover version of the Police classic Roxanne. He also released a whole album in jazz and swing style: Songs From The Last Century.

If you want to react to some jazz, I strongly recommend, “Creep”, by Post Modern Jukebox, featuring Haley Reinhardt. Post Modern Jukebox are masters of jazz, and Haley is a wonderful vocalist, with a smokey, sultry quality. You won’t be disappointed.

If you want jazz, perhaps watch the cover of the song Creep, done by Post Modern Jukebox with Hailey Reinhart as the singer. Post Modern Jukebox cover many songs using a few great artists, and rearrange them into a jazz style

It's nice to see you react to a song that was released in 1984, long before you were born. I used to watch this video in the early days of MTV. Andrew Ridgley broke up the duo in 1986, to pursue a career in Formula 3 auto racing. He was a total failure at it, and basically disappeared from the public eye after that.
