I know; I am not a fan of whisper videos; I prefer Maria doing soft voices videos best. She is SO creative - and such a great mom!! There’s little Mila practically ready for Kindergarten! Precocious and smart as a whip, that little Mila is!! A beautiful family all around. And when I get to feeling sorry for myself that I live far enough from my granddaughter that I can only go see her twice a year. So I think of Maria’s mom and dad - who we have seen on this channel having fun. But they live in Russia. That is a LOT farther from Mila than I am to my granddaughter. I also love it, Maria, when your parents are visiting because your accent gets primarily Russian when they are there!! And I know how that feels, as I am from Texas, didn’t move out of the state until 25. So when I talk to them on the phone, my husband says I sound like an actress tryout for Dallas, 2020, or something like that!!

The KZbin algorithm brought me to your channel after I watched a documentary about a Soviet defector.I watched you talking about your troubled first few years in the USA. As a Romanian, I recognize almost all of the dishes you were talking about, since they are part of our cuisine too! I would die without my borsch and without my fermented foods. I remember watching all your other Russian foods videos and feeling like home :D. Some of these are definitely an acquired taste, but we Eastern Europeans love our sour food, not too sweet sweets and the sour cream whipped creams. My favorite spread is called "zacusca" here and looks very similar to yours, only ours has eggplants and bell peppers as a base.
