I think that IS an already operational SR-72. And the way it looked as it just casually moved out (with those Russian jets already at their MAX velocity) you can tell that the Darkstar did not even break a sweat as it did so. (Although admittedly the old SR-71 can still perform exactly the same maneuver.) But that profile definitely looks like an SR-72.

If this is the real SR72, a replacement for the SR71 the its role has definitely changed, that’s a small fighter sized craft, like a 3rd of the size of the Blackbird. I’ve heard there has been confirmation the there is a real SR72 but I haven’t seen any pics or any statements or reports claiming it, just internet rumors. And if this is real, who’s taking the video? It wouldn’t be ours, are we saying that the Russians actually did this, that we were actually caught in their air space, and they decided out of the goodness of their hearts to send the video to a KZbinr? If our guys took this there’s no way in hell they would release it. Graphics are really getting good.

In real life, the SR71 or SR72 would be flying far above where the others could fly, and would never be going slow enough to be surrounded. So this isn't real. Nor is the SR72 . .. yet. But a good simulation of how the SR would easily accelerate away.
