You would have thought that would have been a relative 'cake walk' given that supply logistics are almost a no brainer, and should be accomplished with almost zero difficulty. If the US ever gets significant numbers of howitzers with smart shells in them you will see it happen a LOT more. You have a very strange idea of the duties of soldiers at war. When I was in the Army we didn't catalogue personal effects of enemy dead, or repatriate them, we just left them for somebody else to bury. I've heard it said that some soldiers examined the dead for gold teeth, but I didn't see any of that. Enemy dead are usually buried in mass or multiple graves close to the battlefield by civilian auxilliaries. We also wore dog tags when on operations, so there was never any difficulty in identifying us or finding our blood group. We once had a psychiatrist come to do a research project on us, but he was evacuated with mental problems! That caused a few smiles. Putin is very popular in Russia,btw.

I believe that the CEO of the steel plant knows more than he is saying, which is commendable. I don't possess any specific intel, but as a structural engineer I know that it takes around 50,000 gallons, or 200,000 liters of fresh water to produce a ton of finished steel. Water is used in the production process to cool the metal, scrub the steel, and descale the materials. There is likely still some water remaining in that steel plant, although it will be brackish and may be barely fit to drink (gray water). This has to be the reason they can still hold out. Otherwise, would you want to be a badly wounded POW and taken to a camp in Russia (and likely never to return home)? or would you like to fight on and add your name to the Martyrs' of Mariupol? If done at a low enough individual level it would be hard for the authorities to uncover. Let's start with the railroads: 1)They can stage silent strikes where workers don't show up for work or call in sick. If the workers rotate who will be sick it can be hard to detect. 2)They can also change bills of lading to misdirect shipments to the wrong area or they can ship it via a circuitous route which is inefficient. 3)They can sit on paperwork to slow shipments. 4)They can damage signaling and switching equipment. 5)They can delay safety inspections and refuse to let shipments move until they are complete. 6)They can manipulate shipping schedules and create traffic jams by scheduling multiple trains on the same piece of track at the same time. 7)They can delay the loading and offload of supplies. 8)They can schedule unnecessary repairs which delay shipments. 9)They can purposefully load the wrong supplies on the wrong trains. 10)They can under or overload trains. If overloaded the chance of accident and maintenance increases. If they intentionally underutilize shipments that can cause logistical problems too.
