Thank you again for making these valuable instructive videos. I am unable to go to back to studies due to health issues and these videos are a life saver. I've been making jewellery for 8 years as a living so learning more skills is essential for me.

Great timing Soham, I was just about to make these. thanks for sharing the 3mm tip as well as the point about annealing prior to re sawing the solder joint to avoid spring. All rings need to be the same size when completed take texturing into consideration

Fantastic video as always. You have been the base of my learning silversmithing skills all the way over here in sunny California :) I love that ring I am going to try it. Could you add more rings if a customer wanted you to? Could you make it a 6 rings ring? If you did would you always put all the rings inside the current ring? Every time you add another ring you always put all the current rings inside of it before you solder it the second time. I hope that makes sense, I love that ring!

It depends on which way the rings face in the grouping, if the rings will roll on your finger smoothly or not. If it seems like it’s not rolling on smoothly, make the rings face other ways in the grouping after they’ve been soldered. The way Soham has in on his finger the last few seconds of the video, they are facing the wrong way. Only a person who’s worn this for long periods knows this. You can see it slid on his finger earlier in the video the smooth way. They don’t have to be soldered differently, just flip them around til they roll on finger smoothly. I wore a ring like this for thirty yrs.

Soham, would you always add 3mm regardless of the size of the wire you are using? If not, is there a formula?
@lf85723 жыл бұрын
I love your work and your videos! I am wondering why it is 3mm we add to the length? I would imagine it would change depending on the dimensions of the wire you are using?

Soham, Is it possible to use the same technique to produce a bracelet? I am thinking, copper, silver and ?
@tammygurl643 жыл бұрын
I saw your question and think it's an interesting concept and honestly I think I've seen bangles in this style. You could always experiment using copper wire to get your measurements right before spending lots of money on silver. Btw, Home Depot (if you're in the US) sells bare copper wire by the foot (12ga up to 4ga) really cheap. The 12ga copper wire is $0.28 per foot and 4ga is $1.59 per foot. They sell 14ga by the foot also but it's covered and has to be stripped. Anyway, that's where I buy my copper round wire if I need larger than 14ga wire. Good luck to ya'! 😃

Hi Mr Sohan, I am still confused with the 3mm extra to each ring for overlap. Is it calculated as shown below? Extra Length to each Ring = no. of rings x thickness of each ring/wire Should we consider width of the individual rings? And how should we consider the texturing of the rings? And what about the overall width of the completed ring? To accommodate the comfort of a wide band/ring. You used a half-round wire, if a flat band was used, how much more length to each ring do you think would be needed?
@1soham19 жыл бұрын
sarahfrancyjewellery it is just the thickness times how many rings. the profile doesn't matter. texturing is a bit of a problem since the solder join is difficult to clean up, but you cound texture the one you don't cut.

Thank you for all your tutorials. I have a question regarding the Russian wedding ring: do you always add 3 mm, no matter what the thickness of the metal is?
@1soham16 жыл бұрын
no, if the metal is thicker you need to add more.
@iritzilberman6 жыл бұрын
So, I would add according to the thickness of the metal. Thank you, Soham. I appreciate you help very much.

@@1soham1 so did you add 3 because you had 3 1 mm rings? I missed why you added 3.

Hi Soham, is there a certain grade of solder that is expected for jewelry standard to be able to stamp it 925, what purity of solder do you buy? Is it 50/60 percent silver or higher or lower. 🤔
@1soham17 жыл бұрын
hard solder is above 70% silver, use that

What Gauge of wire would be the best for a womans ring?
@saszablaze110 жыл бұрын
so what's the calculation for the overlap extra 3mm? or is that just a rough compensation estimate pulled out the air that seems to work>? great vids dude
@1soham110 жыл бұрын
twice the height of the wire, so more rings would mean more added on. same with the bigger wire, more added on

Mr. Soham .. how to do it with a Six rings ?
@1soham110 жыл бұрын
each ring you add you must add the thickness (height of the wire) to the end of all the rings. 6 1mm thick rings would add 6mm to all the rings.
