Olympics are expensive and a financial drain to the host country. The money required to construct a venue is paid by regular human beings for the benefit of very few. The Olympics is a money grab that is scheduled to occur every four years, well... every two years -per winter and summer event- to vacuum money from the hard working populous. There's lots of money made/stolen by means of selling cheap tchotchkes. Think of the billions of people on the planet and how many items will be manufactured and sold by only a handful of greedy bipeds. By means of indentured labor in third world countries. Mega yachts exist due to trickle up economics by means of consumption my many to benefit very very few. The greedy. The hoarders. The oppressive.

Just gotta say that the reason the new Adler-Krasnaya Polyana connection was so incredibly expensive is that it involved loads of tunnels and bridges, and a railroad that went along with it. So it looks crazily costly per kilometer, but it's not just any kind of road either.

Thank you for this amazing VIDEO! 😊 I've seen so many places where we used to walk with my children! Wow, you all can ski so well! As for me, I tried It only once, but I'm scared to do It 😀 I do not think that this kind of entertainment is for me, I like walking and sitting in front of the sea instead 😀 By the way, when we go to Sochi with my kids, we never spend much money there. First of all, we do It not during official holidays or the most popular times, when most tourists come - for example, in November, in March and April... You can't ski, but the prices in the hotels are much lower. And there are less people in the streets.

Sochi is a very pleasant place having been there in September 2018. I went up to the ski resort and to the top of the peak too. No snow obviously but I agree the roads were very good. You missed out Stalin's dacha which is also worth a visit. As for your comment about the queues for the ski lift at the lower slopes that is common in most European resorts, but as you say a ski pass would normally cover the entire valley and public transport would connect all the resorts. Any skier worth his or her salt would want to try all the locations. But in my opinion if you want really picturesque skiing you cannot beat Austria. The pistes there run through alpine forests. They are incredibly beautiful. And they really know how to apres-ski too.
