Do Russians not understand that the USA and NATO do not give a fuck about Russia and Putin??? They never tried to invade, nor take over, but it was the psychopath Putain that invaded Ukraine unprovoked...in 2014 and 2022, he, his administration and the FBS are the greatest threat to Russian people.

It's hilarious to me how Putin is trying to portray nazis in a bad light for the ideology when Stalin and the entire soviet union was collaborating with Hitler and Germany during WW2. It was only when Hitler decided he didn't wanna play second fiddle to Stalin anymore and sent troops into the soviet union that they became enemies. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the ideology as Putin uses as the main argument to russians.

I think half of the reason why Putin is pushing this war so hard is to identify those he thinks are undesirable, to kill off, force them to leave Russia, or make them so scared that they will never say anything. Imagine how many prisoners he has killed off. We are not hearing stories about Russian prisons closing down, because there are no prisoners. So, I would assume that the prisons are being repopulated very quickly. I doubt real crime is going up. So who are filling the prison spaces? I sure would want to say Putin Putin Putin in Russia, because the FSB might show up

I fled from the east of Ukraine in 2014, but my mother didn't want to, so she stayed in the warzone. Our house was too close to some battles, many neighbors died just going outside for water or groceries, so she's seen it all. And yet she doesn't want to think and believes in putin's tales. Sadly, russian government is doing a good job at thinking for its slaves so that they don't have to think for themselves, even when they are literally about to die.
@Paal2005

Unless Russia gets a civil war, it won't happen on that scale anywhere but perhaps some smaller border cities. Ukraine is restricted by international opinion, since they won't get weapons for such operations. The supporters of Ukraine don't want the Russian state destroyed, only it's government curbed. That is also the sort of "highest" goal, with them probably willing to settle for a withdrawl from Ukraine territory by Russian forces, along with some reassurance of minor military disarmaments. Ukraine's goals and the EU's goals aligns so far as to keep Ukraine independent and geographically intact, but an Ukraine invasion of Russia is not just unlikely from a military perspective unless you get a full-scale conventional war between NATO and Russia, but also not a favourable outcome for the EU. For the same reasons as to why China don't want North Korea invaded (and yes, SK and their allies could have done it with moderate casualties), as it would cause a major refugee crisis. Russian propaganda that says the Western powers is threatening Russia militarily is in my opinion completely nuts. There is zero incentive to invade Russia, other than destroying their military capabilites (which is pretty much a moronic reason to start a war over, logically). The main reason I could think of would be for resources, but honestly, a single EU country's economy, Germany, is more than double the size of the entire Russian economy, so it's not really like the EU block as an entity is well served to wreck their well-functioning economy to start a war over some resources they don't really need that much anyway. They were highly dependent on the gas, but showed that they were capable of solving that dependency with only minor "withdrawl" symptoms, restructuring their energy dependency over to renewables and imports from other sources.

Governments are just a corporation in which people are shareholders, and unfortunately it is a deeply corrupt corporation that does not serve the people but serves itself. Governments are not the home of the people, is nothing to defend there !!! But they are, in fact, the enemy of the people, they are the ones who consider themselves above anything and all, above the people, they are the masters of slaves, that is, those who control people by various means. When people comprehend this, they will no longer give their power into the hands of others, who are naturally kind of psychopathic, that is, hungry for control / power!

For russians, there are pluses and minuses (compared to the destroyed buildings and towns in Ukraine). PLUS: they are not suffering the same devastation as is being done to Ukrainian cities MINUS: because they are not suffering the same devastation in russia, they will never feel too much pressure to tell russian leaders "stop this! stop this! stop this!" which means the war will not end *_for a very long time_* The only real chance to get putin et al to stop the war is if pressure at home occurs, and it would take a LOT of pressure, _A TON OF PRESSURE_ from russian citizens before putin et al would listen. Russians are not being subjected to the city-destroying shelling that they are inflicting in Ukraine so russians are never going to demand russian leaders change anything about their actions. My first language is russian, and I can confirm that most russians only know that some kind of war is going on there, most of them are not even interested in this, cause they've way more important personal problems; majority doesn't know any details of it, doesn't know a history of this political conflict, especially the youth, for that reason some russians in the video couldn't give exact opinion. I know that's bad, but they could've asked or showed the photos to someone that really knows about russian-ukrainian relationships

I firmly believe that filming their face does not help respondents to answer faithfully. It is the visual keys and the facial discomfort of many people (or lack of this) in these confrontations that gives the rest of the world a picture of how pervasive and effective the propaganda is, or how ingrained fear has affected their willingness to speak freely, and for many - just how completely the systemic history of suppression of public opinion has reduced the very formation of political opinions in some people who chose to hide behind a veil of apoliticalism rather than try to come to terms with the obvious conflicts between their feelings and what they see going on.

I completely agree with you. I am Estonian, I live in Estonia 8which fortunately is a country very different from Russia. We have free speech and all imaginable and unimaginable liberties etc) But we also have a big Russian minority and we know Russians and their mentality very well. And it is very true that they are people who are very very direct (too much so for my taste), who immediately say what they want and who rarely spend much time choosing their words. It is surprising to see them choose so carefully in these videos. It"s probably not only because they are afraid. But they are probably also confused. They want to consider Russia this mighty country, and at the same time, they can understand that what Putin is doing is inhumane. And not only Putin. We have a lot of Ukrainian refugees here in Estonia and their stories about Russian tanks just (for fun) following civilians running away from them show that some of the soldiers are acting a lot more cruelly than necessary for just military purposes. Russians live in their own bubble very often, whereever in the world they live. They often just follow their own news channels, and those, of course, are full of propaganda. So they don"t really know the reality. Also, the irony of all that Putin"s talk how they want to save the local Ukrainian Russians from Ukrainian Nazis is that Russia so far has been bombing regions where there are a lot of ethnic Russians, in some areas they make up the majority. So Russia is really bombing Russians. We have 100 000 Ukrainian refugees in Estonia. And almost all of them are Russians really. It is just so ironic

Especially if you’re a teen or in your early twenties, with no real economic or political power, like most of these people. All you can do is leave. I definitely wouldn’t go to former subjugated countries at this time, but places like India or China sure wouldn’t mind I wouldn’t think

Oh man…the harder your videos hit (and this one hit pretty hard), the more gratitude I and so much of the world I believe have for you and your channel. There is (and should already have been) a tipping point to what’s going on in your country (a country I was fortunate enough to visit, if only too briefly). Like in the well-known example of ice melting…if it starts off many degrees below freezing, and the temperature increases one, two, several degrees, it’s still ice. But every seemingly ineffective degree higher, it gets closer to that tipping point, until finally it is only one degree away, -from melting, and ice becomes water. Happy New Year to you and all those with love in their hearts. Love is more powerful than some people realize.

@Bella Adamowicz Afghanistan was and is a tragedy, and for sure, my government has played a large part in that tragedy. (And before us, also Russia, and England, etc.) Man, that's a whole other topic, and a completely different one too. For absolute sure, it's beyond valid to not just question the what, how and why of our misadventures, not just in Afghanistan, but Iraq, Iran, Central America, Cuba....it's a long list. I have some knowledge, and a ton of criticisms, regarding our colonial past and much more current so-called "good faith" interventions. We've done some good and noble things, but have also fucked up all too much as well (and beyond fucked up. We've been a manipulative bully many times.) Wanna still talk about any of that...um...I might have a minute to chit-chat. But right now, and especially with my high regards for what i think truly good and moral people from all over the world say and do, but specifically the kind of brave and moral folks like this guy at 1420 and others like him in Russia...right now THAT is what I am addressing and applauding. Slava Ukraini, and blessed be the peacemakers and good trouble-makers, and here's to evolving humanity that finds ways to end suffering and spread and share the best of who and what we all are, and live together on this fragile, endangered, but ultimately beautiful, amazing world.

@Bella Adamowicz "I ‘m not Russia, I liven in the west for nearly 50 years, married to a native to westerner " But you talk like one. All your "russia protecting separatism" and blaming West is pure kremlin propaganda. Only thing to blame West for is that they kept EU/NATO doors way too closed in front of Ukraine. That politics only provoked kremlin to prepare even deper invasion that is going on today. Only good thing is that russia is still russia like it was at soviet times - failing in everything they do. Whataboutism sucks. Afghanistan is not topic there. But if you like it, I remind you that today's Afghanistan problems started with russia invading at 1979. Russian aggression lasted 10 years and ruined another peaceful country creating a a huyge mess what it has been last 45 years.

The fact they don't want to know is even worse, that's not better than Americans not giving a shit about drones strikes killing civilians in the middle east. Governments need to be held accountable by their civilian population, Putin has such a firm grip that his people don't even want to anymore. They'd rather succumb to oppression. If you add up the support (even according to US sources) in Russia for Putin's party as well as the next two, which are even more aggressively imperialistic than Putin (the Communist Party, legacy of the USSR, and the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, which is the opposite of liberal), this comes to over 90%. You can't even consider Navalny, because he was very hostile towards Ukrainians and supported the occupation of Crimea. So, you are left with a few percent, single digits, most of whom have long ago migrated to the west. How, exactly, are such tiny numbers, scattered in different countries, going to "stand up" and stop a war which almost everyone supports, whether enthusiastically or with slave-like submission?

The answers are not representative, they are defensice screens to what these people really think, as the interviewer could be secret police and consequences arround the corner. That 8th guy, is an idiot, I fear. He thinks the economy can survive in a bowl and be competitive. It can surely survive but not be competitive. He does not even think of the technological disparity between attempting to do everything locally to having all the opportunities the rest of the world enjoys. When he will realize things started going bad, it will be too late. It is already too late, the sanctions against russia have just started and will stay for decades. @@sengon344 Oh, you are so wise Cevbrail! People living in Russia are not affected by the war at all! Nearly 1 million Russians - most being young, intelligent, and highly qualified or skilled, have now fled. They no longer live in Russia, so they are not affected. On 20 September 2022, US military intelligence reckoned that roughly 55,000 Russians had been killed by the Ukraine war in 7 months. Those killed are no longer living in Russia. (58,220 Americans died in Vietnam during 10 years.) There are also at least 100,000 Russian military personnel currently in Ukraine, subjected to the hardship and terror of war - but they, too, are not living in Russia. (You are SO, SO wise, Cevbrail!) The Russian economy was set to grow by 4% during 2022, but instead contracted by 3% - the civilian economy has shrunk greatly, while Russian military expenditure has expanded 4-fold. Much of Russia's military production is quickly used, e.g. military vehicles are destroyed and munitions are fired. This does nothing to help the Russian people. It is much better to spend the same money on civilian projects such as health, education, housing, transport, and sanitation - projects that can serve the people for many years, BUT so long as the war is creating jobs and recruiting young men, keeping them off the street - it simply must be good! (You really are SO incredibly WISE, Cevbrail!) The Russian repo rate is now 7.5%, more than twice that of the struggling UK. The repo rate is a direct measure of how much trust major investment fund managers have in the ability of a government to repay its debt. However, fence-sitting, morally-corrupt governments such as that of China, which truly do not give a damn about limbs being blown off children, have hugely increased Russian imports. China has massively increased its Russian gas imports. The deeply two-faced, hypocritical, bull-shitting African National Congress of South Africa, which makes a huge song-and-dance about human rights, justice, etc., while having one of the world's worst corruption records, also loves Russian trade. So Cevbrail, you are SO wise, and probably right. The war simply cannot be an appalling waste of resources that is destroying assets, (at least US$500 billion destroyed at the last count), but must actually be a GOOD thing! Oh, you are SO clever!

Difficult but fascinating to watch pretty much describes every one of the DOZENS of videos I've watched from 1420. BUT they are ever so slowly waking up... The responses are slowly starting to change since the beginning of the war!

@@mcbrite You're right, there is a slow change in responses and an awakening.

Что там осознавать ? После 24 февраля русский сегмент интернета нахлестнул поток украинских ботов распространяющих такие фотографии, а также фотографии с трупами и видео с казнями. У нас давно плюют в людей поддерживающих Украину.

The pictures don't say who is destroying the city and it's exactly the Ukro-Nazis who don't care at all about the citizens of eastern Ukraine destroying everything they can...

You're doing an excellent work in those videos! Your questions are very very good. You see the confusion on their faces! This is gold! It shows that you know how to ask questions and make them feel comfortable. You de-escalate, you explain your goal when you see they are getting mad. You use humour very well. Plus the quality or subtitles and the editing is top notch. Thanks

I didn't see confusion on their faces....I saw fear. It's so incredibly sad but I can't help but think how worse it is for Ukrainians. I pray that there will be peace soon.

@@NancyLynn I wish victory for Ukraine and defeat for Russia. I don't wish simply peace. Russia imperialist goal need to be broken and can not succeed. We need to support Ukraine with everything we can. Donation, military help, etc.

@@MathieuLaflamme why didn't you write the same thing when Ukraine killed Russian people in the Donbas? why there were no such comments then the war began precisely because of this, don’t be hypocrites and yes, Ukraine wins only in American and European news

The cowardly apathy in Russia is astounding, they selfishly turn their eyes & say "It doesn't affect me" & make excuses for atrocities inflicted on their "brothers". Any moral population would fight for freedom.

Not to disagree, but sadly just as with many things/events past & present some people will believe what they believe no matter what they see/hear that contradicts their views. Im concerned with him/them possibly stopping the wrong person to interview one day- like a off duty officer or someone else that could put them in a similar bad situation

The girls face turns cross at the very end when the guy beside her mentions how they still need to demilitarize Ukraine. Thank you for these interviews, it's interesting to see the varying opinions inside of Russia. Maybe a suggestion for future videos: Hold weekly polls on your channel about what question to ask next.
