I met him twice. I brought his dog home in 1977. In 1980 and he rememberer me and bought me a beer at the press bar at the REAL Yankee stadium. One of the nicest people i ever met.

Great tribute! You mentioned AFLAC. You missed mentioning “Yoo-Hoo” for us, Gen-Xers, and anyone else older than us.

Yogi was the best bad ball hitter ever. I think one year he had over 600 at bats and struck out like 30 times. Vlad Guerrero was the best bad ball hitter of the new era players. Nobody comes close to Yogi, who helped the Yankees win 10 championships during his time with them.

He hit those two homers in game 7 off of a great pitcher Don Newcombe.

Better defensively than Bench, no. Overall I would take an ARMY of Yogi Berras over Bench any day of the week. His Regular season AND OCTOBER stats kick Benches ass all day 24/7 everyday

In the 1940s through 1960s (and earlier of course), pitchers could throw at the batters' heads. And in most of those years, the batters didn't wear helmets. That's the period that Yogi played in and excelled in. Game 6 & 7 of World Series 1952 are on KZbin. Watch to see how many of the batters have a foot out of the batter's box to make it easier to bail out if the ball is coming at their head. To me, that is the difference in the two careers. With that in mind, I'll let you decide between the two. Both were superlative.
