connected 4 small water collectors [3rd floor] to a barrel [2nd floor] , one barrel to a sprinkler [1st floor]. Averages 5 seconds of water every 15 seconds. 1 sprinkler can water 4 large planters if placed in the middle. 3rd floor [windmill], 2nd floor [battery], 1st floor [light]. 1 light per planter gives 100% light. If you overlap sprinklers, you can cause double-density water flowthrough, which can increase or decrease the optimum water for various plants. example being - 3x3 adjacent planter boxes, 2 sprinklers. outside areas are for corn or hemp, inside area is for pumpkin or potato.

Great vid will check it out. I think it would be great if the timers had a delay function built in. I have put this forward on the forums but no one has responded... yet! My thinking is that the toggle would be integrated with a delay function (0 by default) so once it gets a pulse it would wait that length of time before switching on the main power source. I think it would simplify this circuit and have so many other cool uses (delaying things such as doors opening / trap bases etc). Maybe an advanced electronics DLC (if they want to cash in!) where they add some other components (small solar panels, branches with more branches, cassette recorder so you can play pre-recorded messages for example)
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
I mean you could use the timers to create a delay. That's essentially what the right timer is in this video.

Thanks for the videos ive built a system that has one large water catcher going to a water barrel that feeds only one sprinkler. With a total of 18 large water catchers 18 barrels and 18 sprinkler heads. 18 pumps to fill barrels in the attic and 18 pumps to feed from the barrels to the sprinkler. All power by branches and a branch for each on and off switch on the pumps to individualy control water going from catchers then another set of switches to allow water from the barrels to to sprinklers. It toon about 100 branches to automate but it turned out awesome. I think its using for everything plus lights like 400 power so 4 windmills and 4 large batteries. Quite expensive for 6 farm blocks but its exactly what i wanted and once the large catchers fill up you have a serious water supply. So basically i hit one switch and it sucks all 18 of the large water catchers water up to the attic to fill all 18 barrels at the same time. Then once full i can switch that off. Then i have another switch that turns on all 18 pumps between the water barrels and its individual sprinkler head. With one full barrel only powering one sprinkler head each it lasts for a very long time and can get many saturations with it. Next i should try to figure out the timing for the two systems to see if it would be self sustaining
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
I admire the shit out of your dedication to farming... That's one hell of a serious setup and omg 400 power lol. You'll be happy (or maybe sad lol) to know that next Friday they're dropping a new pump that goes straight in the water source and a new purifier that plugs straight into it. So thankfully water supply won't be an issue for too long as systems can be simplified just a tad so they don't cost 400 power lol.
@davegrant94 жыл бұрын
If you place the pump high enough so that it won't work unless it gets power, leave it on, and then have a timer set to give it power when you want, you can reduce the number of components it take to build the circuit. No need to specifically send a signal to "turn on" the pump.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Yep, I went with this design because that way it covers both elevated and flat farms. Plus if they change things down the track and make it so you have to trigger the on off switches then at least this already does and as far as I can tell as simply as possible.

Hey I've been thinking about this in the last 24 hours or so and I'm pretty sure there's an easier/cheaper way to do this, I've noticed that you're wiring up both the on and off inputs on the pump, if you make use of gravity by having the pump+sprinklers higher then your water storage you can leave the pump "on" but unpowered, water will flow when it receives power and stops when it doesnt. This should mean you can get away with one less blocker and a branch or two less, because you have a single "signal" now you can also broadcast it over RF and people can piggyback off the one advanced circuit.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had thought of that but I didn't want people who had pumps that are lower building it and saying it doesn't work. Plus on the off chance that they change it so for whatever reason you have to trigger the buttons at least it's just done without too much extra cost.
@Rygoat4 жыл бұрын
yeah that's completely understandable, far less "this doesnt work" comments if you cover all bases. Only reason I've ventured down this path is the server I play on has lots of people who are completely against trying electricity, so once I get this RF signal going I can wire up peoples farms much faster and if I go full capitalist then I guess I can treat it as a subscription service lol. Thankyou though, I'd not wired up a clock timer before watching this vid only stuff based around the day/night cycle
@oats90364 жыл бұрын
I just use a solar panel and a timer. Its not perfect but it keeps my crops plenty hydrated and doesn't cost an arm and a leg just for some food.

I find it easier just to use one sprinkler per 3 large planters and have it on when the plants are growing. It keeps up with the demand. So if it has about 6 to 7k water at the start it should be mostly optimal troughout. Main issue is temperature anyway?
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
I'm kinda surprised 1 is enough to fill it with the plants growing. Are you filling them manually before planting? Also temperature is an issue. You could crossbreed H (hardiness) genes into your plants but that's sacrificing potential growth and yield slots so I'd only do it if you absolutely have to.

With the patch from yesterday this system can be reduced down. Branch E and Blocker B are no longer needed. The initial Branch off from the main power line can be set to 15 the following to 12 and then 6. As you reach Branch D lead the Power Out to the toggle on the Fluid Switch & Pump and connect the Power Out from Branch A to the Power In of the Fluid Switch & Pump.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Honestly didn't see that change to the toggle coming but you're 100% right.
@larsice94 жыл бұрын
Also a decent system to run the new water pumps, if you make some changes to the branch outputs and run at least 2 of them to save energy. (1 pump takes 5 electricity and does 5000ml in 33.3 minutes)

Question about this setup and how I tried to adapt it to my setup. I have 2 rows of 4 large planter beds separated by a walkway. I have sprinklers above each bed. 4 sprinklers on one side and 4 on the other. Since you cant chain more than 3 sprinklers together, i setup 3 stations just like your setup. One for the first 3 sprinklers, another for the next 3 and a last one for the last 2 sprinklers. They all work as intended but im having issues with water flow. My water setup is pretty simple, a bunch of large water collectors on the ground that pump up to some small water collectors on my roof. From the last small water collector it goes down to a fluid splitter. The splitter branches out to three different water tanks. All three water tanks receive water from the splitter and are full (one thing i noticed is that the tanks only fill up one at a time from the splitter, weird). All three tanks are receiving 12ml from the splitter and ready to output 12ml from the nozzle. The problem that im running into is that only one of these water tanks is feeding water to its assigned water pump. The other 2 do not flow to the pump at all. All three setups are the exact same and I cant figure it out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the current farming nightmare! Yay! Lol.. Seriously though water is a big problem for a lot of people currently. Best temporary solution is manually filling the water collector's with the blue water jugs. That being said we should be receiving two new farming components in the patch this week. One of which being a pump that we throw in a water source and it sucks it straight from there. So thankfully the drought is very temporary at this point.
@SgtDonkey14 жыл бұрын
@@Malonik Figured it out, so all 3 pumps followed your circuit design, none of them had power going to the Pump Power input on the pump including the one circuit that worked. Added an extra branch to the two circuits that didnt work and branched out power to the Pump Power input and they are all working now. Dont know why one works without and the other 2 required it but oh well adapt and overcome right.

@riaanvandermerwe71714 жыл бұрын
@@Malonik Yes of-course, basically just using the solar panel to determine the trigger when the sprinklers should come on and the timer set to 1200 seconds , it works well for me, just having to add more catchers as the water runs out depending on the qty of farm blocks.

This is exactly what i wanted to figure out when i retired from being the killer machine. We meet Waikiki on beach as the beachboys we were. find out he was some vincent van gogh and broceed to sprinkle him with all the affections so eventually he had to sign the adopting papers. we went to the forest for some mushrooms there we became the mad scientist we wanted to become i mean farmer boys. is was all good but while we were building the enterprise bad guy streamer Pyroo came with his flamethrower and ruin all ze fun for us. off to nevereverland we go or also kids call it lucid build server so we can work with pieces of qute. in the middle of the day, I end up looking best genetics for reproduction and get ze best of ze best the rest can go rest zhen happen to pass by wavey babey, he was quick shoot 30seconds with his python and it went to sleep without his mic on. still very intresting we try to hola at him but he takes forever considering we seen him in action, he may say he was only using his pinky but still that was stinky, still we ended up waiting for nr 5 so we can be his 6sex. probablys this will never happen so i just fk it sideways and give him ze high 5. now late at night we bractically figure all the answer to her questions unfortunately we have to automate that shit because who else is gonna do the killing while my plants at home are chillin.

Just leaving this out there... there is no point in using the sprinklers or pumps right now as the water catchers are way too slow to be used as direct input to the sprinklers. I linked 100 water catchers up and the flow rate was still too slow. You will just get a head ache. Instead fill the planter all the way up with water with a blue water jug. You have the live directly next to or in a river to run a successful farm. No other way around it. Once the planter is filled with water plant the seeds and put the fertilizer in with them. For corn it is enough water until harvest. With pumpkins you may have to water them one more time throughout the grow process.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
That's crazy... you're manually having to keep checking on them and watering them to keep them in their optimal saturation points. Why wouldn't you want to use sprinklers to save you all that hassle? Then you just dump your fresh water in a barrel or catcher and forget about it... Also facepunch did a commit for a new component that is essentially a pump you stick in a river and it pumps the water directly from there. So at least we'll have a better water source once the patch hits.

Crap just daisy change a few water catchers together into a water barrel and just leave the water on the whole time you are growing something. That's a lot easier and cheaper.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
That's not going to be anywhere near as efficient as using this and the new components coming next patch. Also after the patch you'll oversaturate your plants and kill them if you leave it running constantly.
@worlwr24 жыл бұрын
@@Malonik you can oversaturate them now for most / all growables if you go past 8000ml planter water. The change for the patch based on the commit will probably bring the range down which may make the oversaturate threshold lower as well.

WTF NO! NO! NO! What you need is 1 splitter , 2 Timers , 1 blocker , 1 el. branch. And pump and sprinkler/s by default. 1) Get power to splitter. 2)From splitter power up the 2 timers and blocker (power in). 3) From power out on blocker power in el. branch. 4)From el. branch branch out(the left output) to timer(A) toggle (don't change anything on branch). 5) From timer(A) power out to blocker block passthrough. 6) From el. branch power out(right output) to timer(B) toggle. 7) From timer(B) output to Pump power in. The pump must be ON all the time for this , when it receives electricity from timer(B) it starts to work. Timer(A) after what amount of time is the sprinkler going to startup. If you set it to 30 min than the sprinkler is going to startup every 30 min for the Timer(B) time and stop. Timer(B) is how long the sprinkler going to work. If you set it to 1 min the sprinkler is going to work every Timer(A) time for 1 min and stop. Hope this helps you out. Nice video btw.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
So you're wrong... but let me explain why because I had the exact same thought as you but you haven't found the flaw in the design yet. If your farm doesn't have much height to it then you won't need to power your pump. If you use your circuit on a farm that doesn't require a powered pump to run then the water will run continuously because you're just toggling power rather than the on and off switches. Also don't use splitters, they are easier to use because you don't have to think about branching the power but they waste power because they just split it in half rather than sending specific amounts of power where it's needed.
@unfalr4 жыл бұрын
@@Malonik I use water barrel that is under the pump and dont have any problems. You can branch power to the splitter if you want to have exact power. I just don't want to waste hqm. Ty for reply.

I'm starting to think Facepunch doesn't have a goddamn clue how electricity works. It's so much simpler than this BS. JFC, just make it X amps in and be done with it. If you plug in too much shit, then nothing works. TA DA
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I remember when they first dropped electricity and Gal and I started playing with it... It was even more crazy than it is now lol... like for example if you plugged anything into a battery it would go ham and push all of its power out rather than just the required power.

make a infinite time lap with one timer that goes on and off whenever u set timer then connect it to another timer toggle it only needs 12 power and need less compunents and easier to learn

kzbin.info/www/bejne/raaYgoymorhofsU at the end of circuit connect it to a timer toggle and at the beginning add another electrical branch and give two power to second timer so it can work then second one will give power to water switch to tell how long work and first one will determine how often it should give water

u can also do it with AND-switch and xor + and timer which is complicated but works fine
