So many tutorials out there give some basic tips but skip half the details so that if your farm doesn't perfectly match their build, you have no idea how to properly adjust it.

I get different number when I calculate 50/(75-45) = 1.66 not 1.43. Did I do something wrong? The calculation for 6 planter boxes is the same as I have but the image confuses me a bit.

I was being stubborn and wanted to design the same concept (timer on, timer off cycle) but without copying someone else's circuit, especially since most were designed pre-electric April2024 update. I came here to see if Austin's design could improve mine and found we designed similar circuits but post electric update this can be done with a few less components and with only 5rW: 1xbranch & switch, 2x Blockers, splitters, and timers. Note: It should be 6rW but currently it appears the pump can be run off toggle power and you just leave pump power empty. Hard to describe the circuit in words but Branch Set to 2/3. 2rW goes to off-blocker which leads to OutputSplitter. OutputSplitter leads to PumpToggle and On-Timer-Toggle (this is half of the 'reset'). 3rW goes to the other Splitter which powers both timers and the On-Blocker. Off-Timer-Output leads to the Off-Blocker-Block-Passthrough. Same for On-Timer&Blocker. On-Blocker-Output leads to the Off-Timer-toggle (this is the other half of the reset). I found Austin's math and buffer concept overly complcated. I did the math my own way and found a single sprinkler overwaters 4 large planter by 20% so I set my Timers to a ratio if 20:80 (I'm using 200sec:800sec for simplicity sake). Appears to be holding the water steady.

So 1 sprinkler will keep 4 planters at 9000 with 45ml/min total planter usage? I see in his testing, 2 sprinklers on a 4-plot gave 75 (or 72 in the video) to each planter. Dividing by 2 because he used 2 sprinklers, that would be 37-38 per minute. That would seem to be less than the 45ml/min usage and thus 1 sprinkler would not "over-water" a 4plot room. Am I missing something here?

@@notthatbirdman yeah, the next wipe I tried doing the math again to apply it to a different config and found out I either a) forgot how I figured out the numbers originally Or b) made a mistake in my original math somewhere but somehow mistakenly came to roughly the right on/off ratio. So yeah... I'm too lazy to go back and try and work out exact numbers or figure out how the math works. All I know is with one sprinkler a 80%/20% on/off cycle holds the water fairly stable in a 4 large planter config (assuming no w in the genetics). *shrug*

@@notthatbirdman reread your comment and without going into the maths, I just know from experience that 1 sprinkler will overwater 4 large planters. Before I started using timers I'd just manually turn them off every now and again whenever I was in base.

The only annoying part is, how do you get to the correct initial value and maintain it? If you are over satured, you need to reduce the water level to the optimal system before activating this system. Then if nothing is planted you need to ensure the system is off

The upkeep is straight 9 by the amount of mL in ONE box? Because you had 6 planters so I was thinking 9(plants)×5(water plant upkeep)×6 (planters) = 270 which would be a crazy upkeep number. Is that intentional to just stick to one planter box as the initial value? Or do I actually need to count the other planters as well?

Yup cycles fine if I manually unplug and flick over a timer then re wire BUT when I use the switch it powers both timers and the off timer does not turn off the on timer at the very start???

Edit, sorry! Upon further investigation the issue is the splitter outputs and what specific components they're hooked up to. The outputs of the splitter must be connected to the two blockers and the off timer as shown in the video (I said they didn't which is incorrect) or both timers will run together.

You can add more pumps off of the one circuit. Reinstall the green line that runs out of the middle bottom Branch Out that powers the Fluid/Switch Pump in the video to a splitter instead. From there you can now run up to 3 pumps off that splitter. You can continue to split off for however many pumps you want within the wattage limits of the battery. You will then need to adjust the lower Branch Switches to accommodate the added splitter(s) and pumps. As an example, if you wanted to run 2 pumps off the circuit, set the bottom left Branch Out to 18v and the bottom middle Branch Out to 3v. If you wanted to run 3 pumps off that new splitter, set the bottom left Branch Out to 19v and the bottom middle Branch Out to 4v. Happy to help if you have trouble!

Every time I reset the system with the switch and restart both timers activate, can’t figure how for you the 2nd clock runs first (I’m on console btw maybe that’s it)

I did some testing and it appears that if both timers are set to the same duration they will sometimes run together when initiated. Add like 0.0001 or something (example 1 sec becomes 1.0001) to offset them a little bit. Should fix your problem. Obviously, you don't have to use a decimal, they just need to be different.

Another (weird) fix is to power the two blockers using the opposite outputs on the splitter (far left splitter output to the right blocker, far right splitter output to the left blocker). Just swap what I did in the video. This is probably the easiest fix assuming it doesn't break with future updates.

The most likely reason is that your branch out settings are off

@@AustinKlailaGames everything else seems to work the right way. Just on start up both my timers start on. Then he cycles correctly. The only thing I did differently is from the branch above the “on” timer I went to a splitter as I’ve got 3 pumps running instead of one.

Bruh I wired everything up for the automation, except when i flip the switch both timers turn on instead of just the off timer, its hurting my brain trying to figure out why. The only difference Is i have one more pump running thats already getting power from a separate source, but thats just to get the water pumping upstairs when the main pump is toggled from the timer. I've tried playing with the branches and values but nothings changing, both timers and the sprinklers just turn on and then when the sprinklers turn off THEN the timers start alternating. No clue why, the entire circuit is wired the exact same but both timers turn on when you flip the switch.

Actually I don't know how it is working for you guys. My one is starting both timers when switched on and doesn't alternate. I managed to get it running by removing the blocker of the 'off' timer. (which is now running continuously for on+off duration)

Check to make sure you have the correct amount of power running from each branch. If I had to guess I'd say you're short on volts somewhere.
