Just incredible! The TW Rapid Decon is part of my arsenal for wheel cleaning/decon. I spray it directly on my rotors to eliminate surface rust. Such a spectacular and versatile product! Anyway, you must have been looked at as heroes to the company who hired you to restore the finish of these vehicles. Well done.
@thinkforyourself5672
@thinkforyourself5672 2 жыл бұрын
I've been using Hydes rust Serum for that after a wash but it's expensive. $30 to $32 for 16Oz with shipping. Are you spraying the rotors down then rinsing them off and not getting the rust after the car starts to dry? I have a few bottles of the Rapid Decon but have been using it as a quick spray down iron remover every few months.
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. After we wash we always get rust on the rotors. So usually I will drive the vehicle a few hundred feet and gently press the brakes to dry them. That will stop the rust. People don’t realize that their rotors will rust all the time from rain and washing. But when they drive and use the brakes it dries them and the rust is gone. It’s only when it’s washes and left to sit is when they rust up. But again a few miles down the road braking and the rust is worn away. 😎😎

You did a fantastic job on this vehicle. The one question I have, though, is what is “rust overspray”? I’ve had rust contamination before, but overspray is something I’ve never heard of.

I love the channel and all that you guys do so I wanted to point out something that may be helpful in approaching other decon jobs in the future. The reason it seemingly will react forever application after application is because it doesn't dissolve the entire particle. Basically it interacts with ferrous metals in an exothermic reaction. What this accomplishes is that the particle itself is now rounded off and smoother because the rough edges keeping it bonded to the surface have been used as fuel in that exothermic reaction and burned off. Subsequently you now have a more rounded off particle that's hopefully no longer bonded strongly to the surface you're trying to remove it from, and you're able to remove it via manual removal (pressure washer/wash mitt/clay or clay mitt). This is why you see the different results in different surfaces. The glass and plastics are harder and the particles aren't able to grab into them as hard, The hood having been re-painted would have a softer clear coat due to less curing which allowed the particles to embed deeper and etch the actual surface. You can and do completely get rid of some of the particles, but it's only the really small ones that'll be consumed with the first couple shots of chemical. At some point yes you can throw more and more chemical and run out of particles for it to react with but what we're working towards is a question of diminishing returns. After a few shots of chemical You're likely left with bigger particles only on the surface, but they're rounded off enough to be removed from the surface manually with much less effort than throwing more chemical at it. At that stage it's also likely going to be pretty much clear whether or not you're going to polish so even if you're worried about micro marring you shouldn't be since you're likely going to polish any surface that would have needed more than a couple shots of chemical anyway. Hopefully this helps someone out there and maybe saves them a bit of money and energy the next time they're working on a heavily contaminated surface.

Lookin’ beautiful! That decon was nuts! Such crazy bleeding. I have a question: it seems like a lot of detailers leave the license plate on the vehicle. Do you do this? If so, what is your reasoning? I pull the license plate off just to do a wash (personal vehicles) - seems like a lot of dirt would get left behind otherwise. Your thoughts on this?
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks! I remove the plate once I get it inside and start polishing. I usually just do a quick wipe with a damp towel and onr behind the plate. But I only do that for larger jobs like this and coating jobs. Full details we don’t bother removing plates.

Hey Phil, I have a question. I am a mobile detailer and I want my clients to have the longest lasting paint protection quickly. Problem is that when I tell them that I’ll claybar, it leaves behind marring and I usually have to machine apply a wax. My question is does machine applying a wax or sealent last longer that a spray coating like 303 graphene spray coating and grout’s garage 3-1? Because it seems sometimes like the sprays might last longer. Also, can I top one of the spray coatings on top of a machine applied wax/sealent?

Hi Excellent question! So instead of using a typical liquid wax or sealant you could just opt to use a fine polish and machine apply just like you would the wax/sealant. basically your lightly and quickly polishing. then you can use a spray coating like you mentioned. the polishing doesn't have to be true polishing, just quick application. basically follow the principle in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqSZYoB5j5mhadk You can also choose a ceramic polish that has protection in it like an all in one polish and then top it with a spray coating also. that way the ceramics bond and you get better protection. like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp-5lGqalMujh5o

@@MirandaDetailing ok great! So right now one of my packages is a “full detail” but it doesn’t include polishing. Should I take clay baring out of that package if I don’t plan on polishing? (I have a “Premium detail” package which is my full detail but with a light polish)

That’s up to you. I build everything into my services to make it more valuable to the customer and to get a better end result. Since removing marring is so easy and quick I almost always clay bar and machine apply a sealant for those services. The resists are always amazing. But it’s up to you. Give it a try and see how the end results turn out.
