You done a very nice job there, jobs like this can easily become overwhelming, especially as you say when you start cutting you always find more rust than you first anticipated. I enjoyed the video and it’s given me a kick up the backside to do more on my MK2 Cavalier. The Astra is definitely worth the save it looks really good over all, I’m biased anyway firstly it’s a Vauxhall secondly it’s in petrol blue one of my favourite colours 😅🤦♂️. I will find part 2 and see what you finished up with. Thanks again, have a great weekend. Steve.

Thanks Steve for your support, this is the only Vauxhall I have owned and it’s done us proud. It’s nice to pay back its good service to my family with a bit of my time and see it back on the road where it belongs 😀. Check out my latest video after part 2 to see the happy ending. Hopefully your Cavalier will benefit from the inspiration 🔧. All the very best Steve .

@@stevesclassicgarage9464 Cheers Steve, I’m in the middle of watching your energy usage one, I pretty much agree with everything you’ve said in that video, I have a modern everyday car which I intend on running until it dies or worse… I would replace it with an older car very highly likely another Vauxhall maybe a Vectra B estate. I’ve subscribed which I thought I done yesterday, I will look forward to watching your next instalment. Cheers.

@@Cavalier_Steve thanks for the sub much appreciated running any car on a budget these days whether it’s old or new is very hit and miss so I just hope mine continue to behave themselves for the coming months of hardship we are all facing. One foot in front of the other one day at a time 👍

Hi Alex yes such a shame you can no longer keep modern cars running indefinitely like these old things. Reliable and cheap to run what’s not to like 😀

Hi Andy, luckily the rust had not spread to the inner structure especially at the rear. I feel you would need to remove the tank and rear suspension to even get to it which would only make sense on a high spec model, which would have some value when your done. Your right to spend your time looking for a better car rather than welding up a rot box 🚘🔧👍
