automate them with pipes connected to your fish boxes put lower bait level fish like herring sardines and collect trout and salmon from traps is the best use ive found for them.

I tested this with 20 traps in a 4x5 and it was very frustrating. With 50% chance of bait being lost, you lose half of your high tier bait. If you had just fished with it instead, you would not waste any bait and you also have a chance to catch sharks. This really makes me not want to put level 5 bait in here. And I definitely don't want to put bait above level 5 in here. Plus when you have 20 fish traps it is literally a click, walk, take item, give item simulator to 20 traps every 3 minutes. This repeats non-stop until you run out of bait. That isn't fun at all. You just feel like a robot. I missing the old fishing traps that basically turned pickles into an infinite supply of raw fish (infite food and bait source). These new fish traps are just bait wasters. And "fishermen" allies that have to be checked on every 3 minutes that can't even catch sharks. They don't supply bait anymore. They don't supply food anymore. They aren't even that good at being fishermen. You could re-use that small trout as bait to catch salmons or sharks. And get 2x or 2.3?x profit. But this is so dumb. Look at all the things you need: you need a big base, tons of bait, need to not get raided, need to not die transporting fish, elneed to play like a robot with OCD constantly checking traps, just to get more scrap than usual but no components. And when you run out of bait, you can't collect any more scrap. Making the whole thing pointless. What are you going to do for bait? Build a berry farm? That is even more work that you would have to do: another huge base. Tons of planters. Setup water. Setup electricity. Not get raided. Setup god clones. Collect seeds. Get a ton of storage for all your berries. Planting tech from the workbenches. Guns from the workbench to protect yourself. Need to build near a water source. And if you already have guns and scrap, then you don't really need more scrap, so why even setup this berry farm and this fish traps farm for scrap in the first place. It's all just so pointless

@@tinamunich3107 fish can't escape, but if you don't take the fish you catch into your inventory then you can't catch any more
