I want you to know that I work in construction and regularly put my safety in the hands of professionals operating heavy equipment and setting up safety lines I trust my life with my life. Same as they trust me to do my job right when I set up the winch to lower and raise them out of deep holes or when I’m expected to rescue them from confined spaces. If I were comfortable with the person paid to keep us safe with the guns I would pull the trigger trusting the bullets were duds. I don’t see how he should been charged with a higher crime than the person who clearly failed in her job of making sure no weapon was loaded with live ammo. He trusted her and someone else paid for it.

@@PJMontoya Safety requires multiple backup or redundant requirements. That's why planes have multiple backup systems. If one fails it will not lead to death. Are you saying that the plane only needs one and we should trust the operator and maintainance of that system because it would save a lot of money which is what happened here. I am sure you must have redundant procedures to follow in case you have a bad day. No human is perfect and we all have days where our performance may fail to reach our typical standard.

Basically what I said was if I knew and trusted the skill and professionalism of a coworker, I’d trust them to do their job without having to double checking their work. It was the armourers job to make sure the gun was safe. It was her primary function. She handed him a lethal weapon and said it was safe. He shouldn’t be charged worse than her for believing what she said
