I remember comparing Pappy's Belvedere's rear window to the neighbour's stripper Chevelle Deluxe's rear window. I was impressed with how much more style was built into the Plymouth's rear glass, lines and bodywork around it. Never did I think how hard it would be to replace that metal below the rear glass 50+ years later. The way you plan when to put the car's weight down on the ground impresses the heck out of me. I know I'd forget to consider that. A lot of these B-body unibodies disappeared in front of our eyes after a few Canadian rust belt, salt filled Winters up here, back then. That B-body is going to be structurally sound by the time you're finished.👍 Malcolm Ottawa Valley

It’s amazing how much these old unibodies flex! I’ll be putting the rear suspension back on when it comes time to do the quarters also. Having it at ride height is key to making a lot of the metal fit 👌.

Need your hour long videos I love them!!! I wanted to ask, do you always drill out your spot welds completely? I've seen guys only drill out the surface of the spot weld, does it make a difference?
@rustbucketrestos65112 ай бұрын
Absolutely. In this case the metal underneath was bad so it didn’t matter. In areas where I want to save the metal under I’ll hit them real light with a rotabroach or a 3/8 drill & air chisel the rest.

What is your go-to way to avoid rust in pinch welds? Do you just use weld thru primer and then seam seal, do you inject epoxy, or do you epoxy the whole edge and just weld thru primer small areas for the welds? Thanks.
@buzzbussian3376Ай бұрын
Nice job, U S Car Tool has a inner rocker reinforcement.......have you ever used them on this type of repair since you were in that far or when would you consider using them if you would actually need them? Just asking because I have a '70 B-Body convertible. Thanks, Buzz.
@rustbucketrestos6511Ай бұрын
I have not used their inner rockers but If they are anything like the rest of their chassis stiffening goodies, I bet they are great!
@general23cmpАй бұрын
Question please: If I want to protect the inside of a rocker or another panel, like inside a cowl, can I just epoxy it? Or does something need to go over the epoxy?
@rustbucketrestos6511Ай бұрын
Epoxy if you can reach. If not, use cavity wax.
@general23cmpАй бұрын
@ Thanks. I just didn’t know if it was sufficient or required something over it. I can get to the areas easily right now.
@rustbucketrestos6511Ай бұрын
Then I’d say clean it & epoxy!

@ Thanks. I have some good SPI in a gallon container, but have you ever tried the air activated aerosol epoxy?
