That frame jig is a lifesaver! Glad you're making such good progress on this thing! I wish I had learned my lesson early and made a jig myself!

You make it look too easy Dave! You are single-handedly making the case that these old Mopars can be saved! That went together like a hand in a glove. You are really showing what can be accomplished with a bit of determination and hard work and some cash to resurrect one of these classics. Small steps getting it done! Bravo Dave! Bravo!

Always nice watching an expert at work. You make it look easy, and it's obvious you've done this a few times. Honestly you deserve the props man, hope you have continued (and more) success for your efforts. The camera angles are good for us who want to see what's going on, and are much appreciated. Thanks!

you fix these things just i do with old carbs. watching these videos blows me away awesome! this poor 1970 satellite should have been the original "ratty satty". somewhat like the 1968 charger that you peiced together. my freind that has a bodyshop with his brother says its only metal. in the world of fabricating and bodywork its the same as i think about it as i work and fix engines. cant wait for this other jewel to be finished. ill watch ya till its complete . awesome fab and repair!!

I bought a 1968 Super Bee in 1971 for $200 dollars. It was a rust bucket in just those short years. I drove it for a year and sold it to a friend for the same $200. He did a hatchet rust repair job and cheap paint job . Just showed these cars were never made to last right from the git go.
@rustbucketrestos651116 күн бұрын

Did you save any time reusing the rear panel ? Seems to me the AMD panel would have been less hours.
@rustbucketrestos651116 күн бұрын
Unless its in real bad shape I try to reuse as many of the original parts as possible. I know that sounds silly with seeing how much of the back 1/2 of the car has been replaced, but I think it's in good enough shape to save!
@MichaelDozier-j1b15 күн бұрын
@@rustbucketrestos6511 Got it. My problem is I make a mess removing all the spot welds that it would take forever to fill in all the missing metal with weld. I found it easier to install a nice new undamaged AMD piece. I'm sure you do a better job removing the spot welds than I do.
@michaelhynes733116 күн бұрын
I was wondering why grind the welds under the rear seat as the heads of the welds there make the joint stronger overall and nobody gonna see them ? I think its a good idea in the trunk area though . Not being critical as I really like your work and your vids !! Happy Holidays !!
@rustbucketrestos651116 күн бұрын
Thanks man! I really try my best to make it look like the car hasn't had any work done on it. Boogered plug welds & ugly beads are a pet peeve of mine.
@sec1868.16 күн бұрын
Gotta ask, do you do this as your regular job? If not, where did you get your skills from?
@rustbucketrestos651116 күн бұрын
I do! Full time job + 4 kids. Finding time in the shop is becoming more scarce, but I'm still able to get a little time here & there. Honestly, I was always too cheap to pay someone else to do it for me, so I taught myself! I've learned from making a TON of mistakes. Confidence & skill takes time! I always go into these knowing that no matter what, I'm going to fix it & make it right. Sometimes that takes a few extra grinding wheels or a new panel. Just keep at it!
@sec1868.15 күн бұрын
@rustbucketrestos6511 wow. Graveyard carzs could use a guy like you!
@45BradB16 күн бұрын
Is there a reason you use a regular drill bit on the spot welds instead of a spot weld cutting bit?
@rustbucketrestos651116 күн бұрын
If the metal underneath is trash I normally just use a drill bit. Otherwise I'll use rotabroaches. The quarters will be coming off the car next week & piled in the dumpster! Can't wait to have this one wrapped up!

Do you think it’s possible to build a complete 69 Charger from all AMD parts out of the catalog ?
@rustbucketrestos651114 күн бұрын
Pretty dang close! I think there are still some roof structure pieces that aren’t available, but the rest can all come from amd.
@brianwil8914 күн бұрын
@ almost wonder if this route would be better than finding a old rusted out body and then replacing 90% of the metal anyway. Chargers are getting harder and harder to find.
