Rusted and/or Broken Jeep Frame Bolt Removal Technique

Thank you. So far this is the only video I've found for the shackle bolt. Everyone else has issues with the front spring bolts

Its what I thought you were going to do. And I don't have a welder or a shop. And I have 4 of these bolts broken. 2 are recessed into a housing over a hub. Someone tried to remove a bearing/hub assembly and failed so left it on the vehicle and sold it to my mother who is 72. Hope I can find another way. But you tip is definitely worth to know. Hope more see this video.

Good tip: Take used transmission fluid and with a paint brush all bolts that look rusty to avoid this

That was awesome. Did you do anything to clean the bolt hole out before inserting a new bolt? I've gotten into the habit of coating new bolts w/anti seize. Though I'm sure it's not something I should do for all applications.

Thanks glad you enjoyed it I wish I wasn't so experienced at it, lol. I did spray it out with some WD 40 to try to wash some more of the rust out. As for anti seize, I think it would mainly depend on application, in this case this the shackle bolt so in a stock setup the shackle will be moving back and forth which could help the bolt to loosen up. In this instance I wouldnt put anything on the threads that might allow it to be easier to back out. I do however always grease the shaft of the bolt so that the shaft does not get rusted into place inside the bushing sleeve. That is also another major pia and something I will probably do a video on in the future. Coil spring bushing have that same issue, just did a TJ where I had to cut the bolt on both sides of the bushing to get the control arm out.

Lol, that would be, it actually took about 20-25 minutes.
