Im from a part of mexico where we make and fix old tools. So, yes we appreciate things like this. Nice work the mirror finish is nice. We normally don't do that since we use every tool for every day chords. Lived in Cali for 30 years, no need to stay where we no longer feel welcome. But we are always grateful for what we learn. Keep hammering and grinding I will follow.

Justin, do you have problems with corrosion on your polished axes? Generally, machined, worked, or polished steel is more susceptible to corrosion because energy has been added to the surface metal. Just a question, not a "Hey man, you're doing it wrong!" BTW, you are an artist. You do good work.

Agreed. Wasted effort. The cutting edge is the only part that needs to shine and it should not be razor sharp, you will be chopping wood not shaving your face

@ryancook6452
@ryancook6452 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah it does, but you'd still have to grind or file the back and polish it. And for the polish you'd have to grind to remove the pitting, otherwise the polish would look spotty.

@@kossettereaditte7552 this isnt a whoosh thing. This is a genuine comment on metal restoration. Cola or acidic removal works for removing rust, however, leaves the surface looking like the face of the moon as metal does not corrode evenly. Hence why its usually used on surfaces that arent seen or will be painted later on. Grinding does not suffer from the same issue as it is far more controllable.

Looks really nice, but i don't think it will be really good for chopping wood. First you shouldn't grind it with a machine. It became much too hot in this progress and this destroyed the original hardening of the steel. Second is that all these little notches will prevent the axe gliding easily through the wood. So while it looks kind of nice, I don't think it is a good axe. Just my five cents...
