In this video you can watch the process of how I made this rustic coffee table. I used reclaimed rustic timber from workshop stock. All designed and built in my small workshop with no big fancy machines and it's a relatively easy table project for the equipped woodworker.

Well I've got to take my hat off to you buddy. This is my kind of video. No talking, no loud screaming music, just good video of something being built that is easy to follow and understand. You hit this one out of the park my friend. Excellent video. I wish ther were more like this. Oh yeah, it even tricked me. I paused it so that I could answer my phone, and then realized it was your phone ringing. Anyhow, once again, great job on making this video. JIm

@@jimscott64 Thanks for your kind words Jim, glad you enjoyed the video. I’m generally a quiet kind of guy with few words so hence not much talking. That was my wife phoning me in the background 😆😆 I’ll have to remember to put my phone on silent next time 😆 still getting to grips with filming and editing etc, I’ll hopefully put out another video soon. Cheers 👍🏼

Great video and it is also relaxing, because it goes in a real time, no fast forwarding, as in many other woodworking videos. Those videos actually kind of scary, as they pretend that using power (and dangerous) tools is that easy.

WOW. Great job. Legend! I am just starting out, and one of the first things I intend to build is a coffee table to replace my 40-year-old school project. Its currently a quarter of the size I want, or would like to build. Sat earlier this evening drawing it out on paper, and voila, you built it. Extremely similar. How scary is that? The size I have in mind is 900 x 1400. A nice BIG piece of wood in my living room. I watched totally engrossed in your build and saw how simple you made it look, and how effortless it appeared to build. I can't wait. I am a bilateral amputee and know that I can achieve similar results. I get my mitre saw on Friday this week, and I intend using that for my project. Not ideal but it has to do the job. I am not in a position to buy the planer or the biscuit joiner so mine will definitely not be the same as yours. I intend using long countersunk brass screws on the legs and then fill the holes with a contrasting dowel to make a feature of the joining on the legs and the stretcher. (If that is what the bottom length is called) I will more than likely be sanding until the cows come home. Fortunately I already have all of those, in abundance. I have been refinishing wooden purchases for many years which were either painted or varnished. Aha. I have a mate down the road, who I think has a planer, so perhaps I can ask him to plane my timber for me, at a price no doubt. Love, love, the finish. I do not like 'varnished' wood and prefer it looking raw. Oiled or Wax. Thats it. Kinda saw the name of the product you used and began wondering if we had something similar in South Africa. I have to start doing some homework. Your video was brilliantly filmed and beautifully edited and you now have another subscriber. Its literally 01h50 here and I am going to try and go through all of your content now. So happy that "Big Brother" is watching and knows what content to send to my feed. Surprise! I mean, I haven't searched for rustic coffee tables, yet here it is. Absolute beauty and exactly what I was looking to build. Thank You for sharing. Keep up the great work. New No. 1 Fan. 😁

@@curtmuhlenberg9363 hey Curt, glad you found the video helpful and thanks for your comment. Sounds like you have your project well planned out. I’m an advocate for drawing my projects and planning the process. The build generally goes smoothly with fewer challenges along the way. As they say it’s all in the prep. More importantly enjoy the process, that’s why we do what we do. All the best with your coffee table build 👍🏼

The first thing that I thought of was: where did he find that lumber? The second thing was: he's doing a great job, it's looking good. The third thing was: now it's finished, I love it. The fourth and last thing that I thought of was: did he leave enough room under those rails for a robot vacuum cleaner to pass underneath?
@leftwichprojects

@@NeilSoulo thanks for taking the time to comment 👍🏼 when I build rustic, I think past time. A table on an old stone floor, with no robot vacuum cleaners. To lean over with a one arm stretch, lift one end of the table and a quick sweep with an old folk corn broom and then dropping the table back down on all four legs. I can just picture it now 👌🏼 thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video 🙌🏼
