In Finland is called throw bucket, there is seen why. It is used here normally to get something out of water, never seen digging dry ground. Earlier days was also big Marions what dig dry ground on big water pover plants.

That's an ICD ,Improved crane dragline,I used to drive the old lever clutches, no air control ,mainly 22rb....

Man i ran one of these for years in a scrap yard had a 66 inch cutler hammer magnet on it , It had a high cab.

I ran an old 1933 BE with no assists on the levers and expansion brake drums for the cable, and boom.it ran a continental In line with a pony to start. Had to loosen the injector nuts to bleed her until the air was out of the lines. Engine sat behind me the full length of the compartment with no noise buffer. By the end of the day my arms and legs were sore from pushing, pulling, and stomping on the pedals to hold up that magnet, throw that boom, and swing that cab 360% on those piles of #1,2,&3 to load those trailers. Hardest work sitting on youre ass!

Dredging for gravel? Or to level out the bottom? If its gravel...why do Drag lines always get gravel from a pond? And not from dry land? Thanks.

It's the nature of holes in the ground they always fill up with water and there's no advantage in spending the money to pump it out. Probably minimised the dust problem as well

In Florida I dug lakes for a developer. I would dig a ten to twenty acre lake in the middle he would divide the land sell it for lake front property, sell the spoil not used for grading and use the profit to build the first house or two. It cost him literally nothing to complete the project once finished. ChiefD
