I was given Tonka trucks from a family friend's. I didn't mention that they survived an F5 direct hit tornado. My dad sold them so cheaply to an unscrupulous 'vendor' decades later. I wanted to keep a couple pieces. I did 'replace' the Tonka Jeep truck camper via eBay. I didnt think that I could find 1, let alone 2!

That Tonka is so realistic it looks like a real 74 Dodge after a bunch of Minnesota winters.
@paxhumana20154 ай бұрын
Dodge went with the D-Max style in 1972 and it looks similar to the 1982 to 1993 (or, in Mexico, 1982 to 1995) Dodge trucks, so Dodge used the same general truck design for 23 years, which is even more successful than the box Chevrolet/GMC C/K design that lasted from 1973 to 1991. Moreover, if anything, the grille design, and general shape, is clearly built upon the 1969 International Harvester 1100D series pickup truck, thus your claim is incorrect...oh, and I've lived in Minnesota for a few winters as well.

when i was in kindergarten tonka was my thing, if you had a sandbox you had a tonka truck, i remember being no older then four and my mom took me and my sister along with my dad to a flea market and i found a huge bin of pressed steel played with tonka trucks, my little mind imploded and i just sat in the guys stall playing with the trucks and cars, the guy gave me the entire crate for free because i reminded him so much of his son when he was a little boy, those trucks could take a beating back in the day (granted my day is early 2000's). those trucks came to school with me, to the beach, parks, even to Quebec in the summer! i have fond memories of racing them down my uncles driveway since it was a hill with my cousins, i remember the big dump truck and riding around in that thing and flying down hills with it, some of those old trucks still remain, others have been sold in yard sales or giving to friends new babies. maybe one day the rest will go to my own kids once i have some

I had a blue Tonka dump truck which I burried in the sand pile back in the 1970s. 40 years later, when Dad was selling the farm house, my brother and I returned to reclaim our burried treasures. I somehow, still knew exactly where I had burried it. It was down about 3 feet. I retrieved it and took it home. Some parts were beyond repair, but I bought another in good condition and used it for parts because the original meant much more to me. The restoration was not as nice as yours, there was pitting in the metal, which I chose to leave. I actually have a picture of my brother and myself, as kids, in the sand pile with this truck. I matched the colors as closely to original as I could and it sits in my display cabinet next to that old picture.

Hello! Amazing job, as usual! One question: what do you think would be the best way to stabilize a hollow letter made of thin metal (you know, the sort of letters used for cardinal directions in weathercocks, like W - west, S - south etc). This metal has holes and slits in some parts, and can break easily if I squeeze the letter a bit harder. I was thinking of pouring some epoxy inside, let it harden and then add some car epoxy filler to fill the remaining caverns, so I can sand and paint the whole thing afterwards. The only drawback is that epoxy is quite runny and I don't know how to prevent it from pouring back through these small holes and slits.What do you think? Is there a better way? Thank you!
