Thanks, great video, just picked up my cleaning kit today and it worked out great, I restored and very rusted griddle someone gave to me they were throwing out, now it looks brand new, I had some grapeseed oil on hand, and it worked great, a guy that worked on grills on his whole life told me to throw in some Lime juice as an extra step in the cleaning process and that worked well aslo.

very informative. rust is a problem with these blackstones and i am thinking twice about getting one. there is a channel that was cooking blackened cod and about 1/3 of the cooking surface was rusted and he was cooking in the rust and just denying it. is this caused by neglect of oiling after using or do they all do this eventually?

Great video. I have several small areas of rust on my Camp Chef. Followed your instructions. Not all of the old coating came off, the rust spots did. I seasoned as instructed but the surface is not completely smooth where the old coating and the new seasoning is. Do you think it will fill in and smooth out with additional coats or did the whole griddle top needed to be taken to bare metal? Thanks

Do you have it covered or is it left out in the open? That can determine a lot. Also if you live in a place that’s humid that can cause rust too.
