Were these supposed to be field sharpened? I remember reading from fairbairn that the secret was the point and that the edge had to be keen, in order for a smooth cut of an artery that would not heal vs a rip/tear which the body would contract and try to keep them alive. But I am not sure if they were left as it (with a rubbish "cutting" edge) or if they were actually sharpened like a proper cutting knife on the edges?

Fairbairn & Applegate reviewed war dept records and interviewed troops during WW2 whom used the F/S dagger and reported many flaws in the design that were exposed during combat. So to fix the flaws both Applegate & Fairbairn designed a new knife, which eliminated the flaws, and it's called the Fairbairn-Applegate Combat knife. I have the video link where Col. Rex Applegate explains all of this in detail.

@@RustyFirminSASTV Hi Rusty. I don't bother with actual TV, as it's crap, but I subscribe to numerous KZbin channels, and really look forward to your next presentation. As a suggestion, without wanting to appear too forward, could a presentation on achieving, and maintaining supreme fitness required for special forces be done? Is it a shit ton of running, or traversing hills with heavy loads, the recipe? Is weight training something that's done, or recommended etc, and to what age can most people maintain the required level of fitness? Just a thought, but great work, and hats off to you sir 👌.

Hey Rusty you're making some great videos said with a no nonsense style. I'm glad you mentioned wanting your country back, indicating you're not so trusting of these traitorous politicians. Just a thought but would you consider serving in the SAS today knowing that these politicians may call upon you to hunt down and kill people like myself and Tommy Robinson because the politicians decided we're terrorists? Heavy question i know, but I'm curious. Is there even a place for a free thinking SAS man who would question the validity of such an order to make Patriots terrorists for political reasons? I'm British, Flint N Wales, but been in New Zealand for 19 years now, never been back. However I still feel passionate about the old country and it seriously effs me off to see what's happening. If I were home I'd be very active on the circuit with the likes of Tommy and many more and no doubt do serious jail time for my efforts. I'm a youtuber in NZ spreading the word here about the uk, the US, and here in NZ. I've been banned from KZbin many times for my political beliefs and had two fully armed to the teeth police visits asking me if I'm a Trump supporter would you believe. I watched 6 days just the other day and it was great. But it did cross my mind if the SAS/SBS would do the business against lads from Birmingham, Liverpool, Wales, Scotland because they hold the view the govt are working for corrupt globalist forces who are using the covid as a worldwide power grab to instil fear among the population then start the great reset. Just thought I'd ask and hopefully get a down to earth response. My channel is Cross the Rubicon #crosstherubicon. Lee.marvin.will@gmail.com Cheers

Very interesting so much though went into a knife. Rusty I have a question Iran played an important part in your military life, today Iran is still in the world headlines, your knowledge on how the military,s work around the world do you think there is a strong possibility of it all getting out of control? If it true what they say that it could breakout into WW3 its quite scary. Like I say if its true its even more reason the UK needs to up its game. If the powers that can do what they have done to President Trump and. The American people then I guess anything is possible.
