For those confused by the number: when balanced, weight of organ + weight of piston (i.e. the number on the piston) are all the same, which is 6. So by subtracting 6 by the number on each piston, you get the weight of each organ. Then find out weights of organs you need to fill by looking up symbols on the chest as well as the photos on the wall.

What's the reasoning behind the weights? The tongue is supposed to be "1" but its on the five. I'm fine with just getting told how to do it, but I'd like to know the reasoning behind this puzzle. I just couldn't figure it out.

I just figured it out! We know from the picture that the tongue is 1, but is on scale 5. The hair is 3 and is on scale 3. 5+1+6; 3+3=6. This is where the number 6 is coming from. So for all the other organs, subtract the "scale number" from 6 and you get the code number. The eye is on scale number 1 --> 6-1=5, etc

I think it has something to do with reincarnation. I think the elixar in supposed to grant eternal life but in different ways. (Personal theory) For Aldous, he turned into an eternal crow watching over Rusty lake. For William, he died but I think he can reincarnate into one of his offspring or descendants. Again this is just a theory, but maybe this will help.

each numbered plate + organ has a weight of 6kg (the last plate doesn't have an organ on it and weights 5kg), to find out the weight of each organ/sacrifice you need to substract the plate number to its weight ( for example with the eye: 1+?=6, so eye=5)

@@nicolesmith3271 The picture says the tongue is 1 kg. Look the scales model. Handle of scales is 5 kg. So we can understand this: 5+1=6 Each handle must be 6 kg for balance. So for example eye 6-x=1, x=5kg.

WHAT?! How does any of this make sense? The code? WTF? Seriously, comeon. S is the EYE which is ONE on the scale! E is the TEAR which is FOUR on the scale. I'm...I'm just giving up trying to figure this out. Awesome game otherwise, but this last puzzle made no sense (I figured that the scales just needed to balance, and had nothing to do with the numbers, sure. But that code? THAT CODE?!?! WHAT?!?!)

Thanks to another walkthrough it has been revealed that the secret is 6 minus the number of the balanced part. So, the eye is 1, so 6 minis 1 is 5. Sigh.

I'm not sure but looking at the picture of a family with 6 members, the number to find is 6 minus the part number that corresponds to each person in the jars We have : eye = 1 -> 6-1=5 Teeth = 3 -> 6-3= 3 Tears =4 -> 6-4=2 Brains =3 ->6-3=3 Blood =2 ->6-2=4 So S M I E A R is 5 3 5 2 3 4
