WWII Tube Restoration

2 жыл бұрын

In this video, I will show the restoration of the Gurtfuller34 MG34 Belt Filling Machine.
The goal of the restoration work is not to make a new device. The goal of this work is to make the device work for use in historical reenactments.
Gurtfuller34 Belt Filling Machin.
For the ammunition of German MG-34\42 machine guns, a non-loose metal Gurt 34 tape with an open link was used. Parts of the tape were fastened to each other with the help of a cartridge, the same link was attached from one end of the tape, which facilitated loading of the machine gun. For stuffing the tape with cartridges, cars of the Gurtfuller 34 and Gurtfuller 41 models were used

So... I've been reloading belts by hand for my MG34s for 20 years and never knew this tool existed. I'm feeling pretty stupid right about now. Excellent restoration. Back to functionality without removing 75 years of character.

В Советской Армии был подобный прибор, назывался : машинка Ракова. В ней можно было сыпать в приёмник патроны с разными направлениям пули. Он сам переворачивал патрон с досыланием в ленту. Очень быстро набивалась лента на 250 патрон.

@Njazmo
@Njazmo 2 жыл бұрын
@@nato4720 some of these "restorers" make things look better than the object was new. Folks back then didn't file casting marks, and didn't use filler, when some cast iron thingy came out of factory. So, is it restoring anymore? If they used lead paint, you can't find it anymore, so it's not accurate anyways. KZbinrs have spoiled people to think "restoring" an object should look like 10 times more better when it was new. That's what I think is bullcrap.

I am so freaking impressed. All I could think is how I wish my uncle was alive to see this restoration. He fought in the UK army from 1926 to 1948. He survived as a sgt having fought in every major battle in France1940, the desert all the way to 1943 and the Italian theatre through to 1945 armistice. They then shipped him off to Israel and didn’t leave there until 1948. I loved the history discussions I had with him when I was a primary school kid. He was a hard man but loved us kids.

I am glad to see this piece of equipment saved and repaired. There are a couple of things I really like about this video. First of all you saved/repaired it without polishing it to a mirror finish and painting it some ridiculous color. The other thing is that it wasn't a video with background music from a 1970s porno film! I also, truly appreciate that you restored this piece of history without a bunch of political correctness about it being gun related or about Germany, nazis and other B S...
