I just finished the rear lift. OME with JKS Shackles and Ironman 4x4 Fab Relocation brackets front and rear. Getting ready to do the front. ACOS Adjustable Spacer, OME Springs and Shocks with JKS Adjustable Upper and Lower Control Arms and Adjustable Track Bar with JKS Quicker Sway Bar Disconnects! I'm only going around 3" or whatever gives me the rake and stance I'm looking for. Not sure where to start the adjustments on the Control Arms? Not really worried about the track bar adjustment...

A fine video that all shade tree lifters should see - it's amassing that so many people do not replace their control arms when they raise their XJ. These Rusty control arms look great and lubricating the assembly as you install it is excellent advice - I'm partial to coating threads with silicon too. Hopefully, time will demonstrate durable bushings in these arms! Have you tried Rubicon Express Control arms?

Whatever, my Honda VTECH can go through that intro trail and not even damage the body kit! Don't you hate when people say that crap! But someone had to say it. Well, that is out of the way. Rusty's Off Road® products are the single best packaged and heaviest built off road products you can get for a fair price. My tie rod, track bar, and fixed lower control arms are Rusty's Off Road®. I am getting the adjustable upper control arms from Rusty's as well. It seems the factory should have made the track bar and either the lower or upper control arms adjustable. But that is where Rusty's comes in. This stuff cures death wobble/death rattle, with great ease, and gets the caster angle you need even easier, um, on my Honda VTECH that is! By the way, that is a really well built XJ, tough enough - no fluff.

I swapped out the cross member from a standard transmission and it lowered my transmission and transfer case around 3/4"-1". Mines a 99 XJ. Not sure whether yours was a standard or auto?

Thanks Ronnie. I have 3" pucks up front on my '94 daily driver and it doesn't like the horrible paved road around here. Been trying to learn about angles etc., saw a video on control arm drop brackets to change the angles , does the bend in these control arms act the same way giving a flatter angle for better bump absorption?

@@johnnyblaze6810 Same boat here. No, it doesn't change your pinion angle with the bent arms. I ordered the control arm drop kit, so now the question will be, will these bent arms work with the drop kit... I'll find out this weekend.

@@sethride9042 If you bought adjustable arms for no other reason than to have adjustable arms you are doing it wrong my friend. Only reason you should get them is if you need em. And if you need them for what they are designed for you definitely need to jack it up since you cannot move the axle on the ground.

@williamiverson9032 жыл бұрын
The bend is for axle bracket clearance at full droop. It can't effect ride quality in any way. Your arm angle is determined by the ends regardless of what shape connects them.

Put a 3 inch on my cherokee from rustys and it's fine, I plan on changing my rear springs cause I did an add a leaf and was on a tight budget but it rides fine and the springs are holding up, coil springs are very stiff tho but ride awesome on the highway. I need fixed lower control arms too. But Ppl beat the shit out of their stuff and then cry saying it doesn't hold up when lift kits are honestly only meant for moderate off roading and street use. Unless it's from like Clayton off-road or some high end company which does dessert racing and extreme rock crawling. Rough country has decent stuff too but I've seen some stuff not last like it should.

Why would you say it's going to squeak ?
@scottdoubleyou5633 жыл бұрын
I think that Rusty's uses hybrid polyurethane and rubber bushings. Polyurethane tends to squeak a bit no matter how much you grease them.

How did you determine what length to set them at?
@cherokeeronnie6 жыл бұрын
Call them
@forreststrong7976 жыл бұрын
KmanJeeper they are adjustable to set caster so it drives better if your jeep seems to be walking all over your caster is off.
@silverstategarage48345 жыл бұрын
Start with a little longer than stock. Set her down, drive, check angles and readjust as necessary. Lowers move your axle forward and back so make it longer if you're lifted on stock arms to regain the lost wheelbase from lifting (really it isn't that much but it does help). Uppers adjust caster/pinion, caster taking precedence. Make sure it doesn't wander or feel unstable, check for the steering wheel's ability to return to center. You don't need to take it to a shop to check caster. Get an angle finder and hold it on the flat spot on either side of the diff cover...or if you're driveline is off, use the back of the yoke. Easy peasy!
