Very good loading ramps Rusty. Mine are exactly the same with 1x4's attached to the outside of the 2x10's to avoid the possibility of rolling off the ramps.

Rusty. Going into the truck is not bad because you're moving forward but bring it out and walking backwards is more dangerous. I would try letting that front tire down as soon as possible and let it roll and not hold it off the ground and possibly push you back causing you to trip and fall. I don't want you hurt, I enjoy your videos and don't want you laid up in the hospital....

Glue or nail some rails on each side of the boards to make tracks so the wheels can't fall off the sides. One fewer thing to worry about. We are inventing a primitive railroad here!

There are "ramp end kits" made from extruded aluminum. They attach to the wood at the end that sits on the tailgate. But they fit on 2x8 boards.
@JerryD7704 жыл бұрын
I bet they are expensive though bout what 150$?
@RippSnortin4 жыл бұрын
@@JerryD770 I saw some good ones for $35 and knock offs for $18. Course you have to buy the wood too. So that's probably another $30. Amazon has them, Home Depot and Lowes too. There's not much to them. Just a area to screw it to the plank. Then where it sits on top of the tail gate is kind of angled. That area is thin so the tires have no resistance. So they can't fall off as easy, which will eventually happen with this method.

The end may be for an eight inch board but should still be able to go wider so an inch goes beyond each side. The diamond is starting to get that brilliant shine now Rusty.

Great idea to use that rug to hold the boards! I'm going to copycat that. One suggestion is that it should be much easier on you and the trike if you can grab it by the front wheel, rather than that basket handle.

Nice job , also if you like to keep the front wheel straight sometimes when your pushing it you can get a short bungee cord and put it through the front wheel and around the frame.
@rusty786094 жыл бұрын

@bertaga412 жыл бұрын
That was my problem exactly. I was trying to lift my trike in. I put the front wheel in first and that was fine until I tried to push in the back wheels and the front wheel turned at right angles and wouldnt budge. It would have been quite easy if if I could have locked the front wheel straight. I had to block the trike in with a wheel bin and go to the front of the car and pull the wheel and everything rolled in.

Might consider adding two cross pieces from below that will prevent the ramp boards from straying. Can use temporary fastening system to assemble/disassemble. This will add stability and increase safety.

Taking it out of the truck looks pretty dangerous. Walking backwards, one misstep and you'll have a 70lb trike on top of you. Let's try to think of a better solution. I'd be very upset if something was to happen to my favorite youtuber!!!

Howdy Rusty. That look great. Like Jim Borer mentioned add boards on the edge of your ramp board to guide the tires. The wife and I moved a big couch from one room thru the house out the front door to the curb for the garbage man in the morning. My back is feeling it. Don’t know if I will be able to move tomorrow.

Gary Vonglis : Actually my wife came out ok. It was me that had the back issues after moving the couch. I used a heating pad at night. My back was a lot better. I am glad we took the couch out that evening because the garbage guys were there to get it first thing in the early morning.

@otherbrother34 жыл бұрын
That was my question too. That truck bed is about 6 feet long and the boards are 10 feet long. You don't want to leave the tailgate down or put the boards between the tailgate and camper top door. Maybe inside the Casita during the transport only.
@RippSnortin4 жыл бұрын

I admire you ingenuity but since you are lifting still, would not a third board allow for no lifting or just lifting the back and front sequentially with one hand while steadying yourself on the back of the truck be as easy and aprox the same taxing
